Download or read book Theranostics Approaches to Gastric Cancer written by Donald Maxmilian. This book was released on 2023-09-26. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term theranostics is derived from the combination of two words, namely, therapeutics and diagnostics. It is a practical aspect of personalized medicine. It involves using a combination of one radioactive drug to identify (diagnose) and a second radioactive drug to provide therapy in order to treat a tumor. Gastric cancer, also known as stomach cancer, develops due to the formation of malignant cancer cells in the lining of the stomach. The factors such as age, diet, and stomach diseases result in the development of gastric cancer. Some of the common symptoms of this cancer include unexplained weight loss, severe abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, difficulty in swallowing, etc. It can be diagnosed with the help of imaging tests such as CT or CAT scans, PET scans, MRI, or upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. Theranostics includes molecular targeting and nanotechnologies which are increasingly finding many applications in the treatment of gastric cancer. In this book, the various advancements in the field of theranostics as well as their application for the treatment of gastric cancer have been looked at in detail. For all readers who are interested in this area of study, the case studies included herein will serve as an excellent guide to develop a comprehensive understanding.

Book Synopsis Theranostics Approaches to Gastric and Colon Cancer by : Ganji Seeta Rama Raju

Download or read book Theranostics Approaches to Gastric and Colon Cancer written by Ganji Seeta Rama Raju. This book was released on 2020-03-04. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights the importance of understanding gastric and colon cancer metabolism in guiding diagnosis and drug discovery. It summarizes the correlation between adiponectin and matrix metalloproteinase with colorectal cancer. The book also evaluates the divergent role of hypoxia-inducible factor 1 in colorectal cancer growth and metastasis. After discussing the role of genetic polymorphisms in alcohol metabolizing enzymes and EPHX1 with the onset of colorectal cancer, it reviews the molecular mechanisms of chemoresistance in gastric cancer and novel therapeutic strategies to reverse the chemoresistance of tumors. In addition, the book explores the theranostic role of nanoparticles and therapeutic potential of phytochemicals with regard to colorectal cancer. Given its scope, the book offers a valuable guide for oncologists, academic researchers, pharmaceuticals practitioners, and students who are involved in research and treatment of cancer.

Book Synopsis Novel therapeutic approaches for gastrointestinal malignancies by : Ganji Purnachandra Nagaraju

Download or read book Novel therapeutic approaches for gastrointestinal malignancies written by Ganji Purnachandra Nagaraju. This book was released on 2020-10-01. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an up-to-date overview of gastrointestinal malignancies, including prevention, early detection, intervention, and life-extending therapeutics. It also assesses various biomarkers used for diagnostics, prognostics and prediction of response to chemoresistance. Further, it discusses the latest trends in the use of small-molecule targeted therapies and immunotherapies as single agents or combination with other treatments. Since resistance to radiation and chemotherapy contribute to the high recurrence and poor survival rates, improving the outcome for GI malignancies is dependent on the introduction of new biomarkers and therapeutic agents. Lastly, the book systematically investigates novel theranostics approaches using nanotechnology for the detection, diagnosis, and personalized treatment of GI malignancies.
