Book Synopsis Multiscale Simulation Approach for Battery Production Systems by : Malte Schönemann

Download or read book Multiscale Simulation Approach for Battery Production Systems written by Malte Schönemann. This book was released on 2017-01-05. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Addressing the challenge of improving battery quality while reducing high costs and environmental impacts of the production, this book presents a multiscale simulation approach for battery production systems along with a software environment and an application procedure. Battery systems are among the most important technologies of the 21st century since they are enablers for the market success of electric vehicles and stationary energy storage solutions. However, the performance of batteries so far has limited possible applications. Addressing this challenge requires an interdisciplinary understanding of dynamic cause-effect relationships between processes, equipment, materials, and environmental conditions. The approach in this book supports the integrated evaluation of improvement measures and is usable for different planning horizons. It is applied to an exemplary battery cell production and module assembly in order to demonstrate the effectiveness and potential benefits of the simulation.

Book Synopsis Energy-Related Material Flow Simulation in Production and Logistics by : Sigrid Wenzel

Download or read book Energy-Related Material Flow Simulation in Production and Logistics written by Sigrid Wenzel. This book was released on 2024-01-15. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides for the first time an overview on the current approaches and applications of energy aspects in production and logistics by the use of simulation techniques. During the last decade, the importance of energy in the material flow processes has become more and more important. The pressure to reduce the environmental footprint of production and logistics systems will even intensify in future. Therefore, enterprises have started to integrate the use of energy into their planning processes much more than before, even designing feedback loops, e.g., from energy control to production control. This receives additional attention with the increasing use of renewable, but less reliable, energy sources. Care must be taken to establish processes that aim to use energy when it is available. As an example, many industrial processes like melting or coating have significant energy demands, but could vary the point of time of its consumption within specific limits, leading to a very high complexity. It discusses the construction and application of energy-specific performance indicators and analyzes the input information that needs to be acquired before implementing suitable models. On this basis, concrete technical solutions are introduced.

Book Synopsis Handbook On Smart Battery Cell Manufacturing: The Power Of Digitalization by : Kai Peter Birke

Download or read book Handbook On Smart Battery Cell Manufacturing: The Power Of Digitalization written by Kai Peter Birke. This book was released on 2022-06-09. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The transformation towards electric mobility requires the highest quality mass production of battery cells. However, few research in battery cell engineering focus beyond new cell chemistries. As a consequence, there exists a huge gap between basic battery research and comparable scientific approaches to battery cell production. This handbook bridges the gap between basic electrochemical battery cell research and battery cell production approaches. To run lithium-ion battery gigafactories successfully and sustainably, high-quality battery cell production processes and systems are required. The Handbook on Smart Battery Cell Manufacturing provides a comprehensive and well-structured analysis of every aspect of the manufacturing process of smart battery cell, including upscaling battery cell production, accompanied by many instructive practical examples of the digitalization of battery products and manufacturing systems using an integrated life cycle perspective.

Book Synopsis Integrated Planning of Heat Flows in Production Systems by : Denis Kurle

Download or read book Integrated Planning of Heat Flows in Production Systems written by Denis Kurle. This book was released on 2018-02-10. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book presents an integrated planning concept for heat flows in production systems comprising various short term and long term related models. Detailed explanations about the modeling and implementation of all relevant system elements such as generic and specific machines types, technical building services (TBS), production planning and control aspects, heat storage units and (waste) heat designs follow. Due to resulting amounts of data, the concept foresees system level appropriate indicators and visualizations for a facilitatedevaluation of the model results. An application procedure embeds and describes all models as well.Three exemplary application cases demonstrate the applicability, including the manufacturing of shafts for automotive transmissions, a cooling water system and an academic learning environment.

Book Synopsis Planning of Eco-efficient Process Chains for Automotive Component Manufacturing by : Christopher Schmidt

Download or read book Planning of Eco-efficient Process Chains for Automotive Component Manufacturing written by Christopher Schmidt. This book was released on 2021-01-04. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book includes the introduction of emerging manufacturing technologies and planning cases with established technologies. The planning of eco-efficient process chains is crucial for manufacturing companies. However, in the state-of-the-art planning, various barriers exist towards the integration of the environmental dimension. Against this background, a concept for the integration of classic lean and environmental criteria into the three planning phases of process chains is presented. During concept planning, the Technology Assessment Tool supports planners in the identification of eco-efficient technologies. During rough planning, the Value Stream Design Tool enables the derivation of a production line based on workpiece characteristics. For detailed planning, tools for eco-efficient machine and process chain configuration are provided. Three case studies from large-scale automotive component manufacturing with established and emerging technologies demonstrate the tool applicability.
