Book Synopsis Complexity, Analysis and Control of Singular Biological Systems by : Qingling Zhang

Download or read book Complexity, Analysis and Control of Singular Biological Systems written by Qingling Zhang. This book was released on 2012-02-18. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complexity, Analysis and Control of Singular Biological Systems follows the control of real-world biological systems at both ecological and phyisological levels concentrating on the application of now-extensively-investigated singular system theory. Much effort has recently been dedicated to the modelling and analysis of developing bioeconomic systems and the text establishes singular examples of these, showing how proper control can help to maintain sustainable economic development of biological resources. The book begins from the essentials of singular systems theory and bifurcations before tackling the use of various forms of control in singular biological systems using examples including predator-prey relationships and viral vaccination and quarantine control. Researchers and graduate students studying the control of complex biological systems are shown how a variety of methods can be brought to bear and practitioners working with the economics of biological systems and their control will also find the monograph illuminating.

Book Synopsis Formation and Containment Control for High-order Linear Swarm Systems by : Xiwang Dong

Download or read book Formation and Containment Control for High-order Linear Swarm Systems written by Xiwang Dong. This book was released on 2015-07-18. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on analysis and design problems for high-order linear time-invariant (LTI) swarm systems (multi-agent systems) to achieve consensus, formation, containment and formation-containment. As a first step, the concepts of practical consensus and formation-containment are introduced. Unlike previous research, the formation in this book can be time-varying. A general framework for consensus, consensus tracking, formation, containment and state formation-containment is presented for the first time. Sufficient/necessary and sufficient conditions, and approaches to designing the protocols for swarm systems to achieve these control objectives, are respectively proposed. Autonomous time-varying formation experiments using five quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are conducted in an outdoor setting to demonstrate the theoretical results.

Book Synopsis Advances in State Estimation, Diagnosis and Control of Complex Systems by : Ye Wang

Download or read book Advances in State Estimation, Diagnosis and Control of Complex Systems written by Ye Wang. This book was released on 2020-07-30. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents theoretical and practical findings on the state estimation, diagnosis and control of complex systems, especially in the mathematical form of descriptor systems. The research is fully motivated by real-world applications (i.e., Barcelona’s water distribution network), which require control systems capable of taking into account their specific features and the limits of operations in the presence of uncertainties stemming from modeling errors and component malfunctions. Accordingly, the book first introduces a complete set-based framework for explicitly describing the effects of uncertainties in the descriptor systems discussed. In turn, this set-based framework is used for state estimation and diagnosis. The book also presents a number of application results on economic model predictive control from actual water distribution networks and smart grids. Moreover, the book introduces a fault-tolerant control strategy based on virtual actuators and sensors for such systems in the descriptor form.
