Book Synopsis You Can't Fall Off the Floor by : Harris Katleman

Download or read book You Can't Fall Off the Floor written by Harris Katleman. This book was released on 2019-06-25. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A studio executive’s “superb memoir” of his years in the industry, filled with hilarious stories and hard-earned wisdom (Library Journal). From watching his colleague get shot in the testicles by a jealous producer to running Hollywood’s most successful TV studio, Harris Katleman had a front row seat in the development of the television industry. A classic account of the business side of entertainment, this book shares what really happened in the early careers of Hollywood stars and the development of iconic programs. Through a number of funny behind-the-scenes anecdotes, Katleman shares his journey from office boy to talent agent to television producer, and finally to studio head at both MGM and Twentieth Century Fox. Along the way, we meet industry giants including Rupert Murdoch, Bob Iger, Barry Diller, Marvin Davis, Kirk Kerkorian, Mark Goodson, and Lew Wasserman. This memoir goes beyond the story of a life in Hollywood. It is the story of crucial developments—how motion picture film libraries were opened for television licensing, how The Simpsons was birthed, and much more. “Not only does this book show his leadership in the television business, it shows how strongly he fought for groundbreaking shows that transformed the industry.”—David E. Kelley “A worthy entry in the lexicon of books chronicling Hollywood of yesteryear.”—Booklist

Download or read book You Can't Fall Off the Floor written by Roxy McLaughlin. This book was released on 2009-07. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: OBITUARY Lillian Enchman -Levy; LIDENVILLE, NY - Lillian Enchman-Levy, 83, a 52 year resident of Lindenville passed away Sunday, November 5, 2006 at her home, in her bed, in her sleep. She wouldn't have it any other way. Lillian was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 9, 1925 to the late Rosmond and Noah Schaeffer. Mrs. Levy was a housewife until her first husband died and left her to raise two of their four children alone. She became a bookkeeper in the leather industry and there, she funneled money to subsidize her gambling addiction. She was arrested for embezzlement, a felony, in 1986. Spirited, hilarious, stubborn, conniving and a "bitch on wheels" are words that best describe her. Known for her culinary skills, Lillian especially enjoyed bringing family together for great food, fighting, and guilt by manipulation. Lillian later married Mordecai "Morty" Levy, a general air-conditioning/ plumbing repair guy - supplier and philanderer. Lillian is survived by her husband, Morty Levy of Lidenville; a son/sun - center of the universe, Robert and his wife, Harriet, of Avon, Connecticut; a daughter- the controlling, manipulative and not so bright Carrie Hammond of Upstate, New York; a daughter - righteous. street smart and self made woman Sarah and her husband, Ray Keegan of Upstate, New York; son, Michael, who she never really cared about because she never wanted him in the first place, and his wife, Jocelyn, of Switzerland; a stepson Richard Levy, who she despised, of Brooklyn, New York; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. A service will be held Tuesday, at The Atlantic City Casino, where afterwards, Lillian's cremains will be scattered amongst all the black-jack tables. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Gamblers Anonymous.

Book Synopsis You Can't Fall off the Floor by : Ben Watford

Download or read book You Can't Fall off the Floor written by Ben Watford. This book was released on 2009-11-02. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can anything good come out of Winton? The King James Version of the Holy Bible relates an episode in which Jesus Christ was choosing men to become Disciples. Phillip was sent to invite Nathanael to join the other followers. When Phillip informed Nathanael that Jesus of Nazareth was indeed the Messiah, Nathanael asked, Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Nazareth, like Winton, was not a place in which one would expect to find greatness. The negative label that too often has been placed on small, rural towns and their people can become a self-fulfilling prophesy. Unless an individual has a healthy view of self, he or she may live down to the level of popular perception. I spent a fair amount of my youth living with the socially assigned designation of country kid. The inference of this distinction was that I lacked many of the virtues that were automatically attributed to city kids. That may have been true, but the net result was that it motivated me to prove that something good could come out of Winton. As Phillip did to Nathanael, in this book, we invite all to come and see.
