Book Synopsis Vibro-Acoustics, Volume 1 by : Anders Nilsson

Download or read book Vibro-Acoustics, Volume 1 written by Anders Nilsson. This book was released on 2015-08-06. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This three-volume book gives a thorough and comprehensive presentation of vibration and acoustic theories. Different from traditional textbooks which typically deal with some aspects of either acoustic or vibration problems, it is unique of this book to combine those two correlated subjects together. Moreover, it provides fundamental analysis and mathematical descriptions for several crucial phenomena of Vibro-Acoustics which are quite useful in noise reduction, including how structures are excited, energy flows from an excitation point to a sound radiating surface, and finally how a structure radiates noise to a surrounding fluid. Many measurement results included in the text make the reading interesting and informative. Problems/questions are listed at the end of each chapter and the solutions are provided. This will help the readers to understand the topics of Vibro-Acoustics more deeply. The book should be of interest to anyone interested in sound and vibration, vehicle acoustics, ship acoustics and interior aircraft noise. This is the first volume, and covers the following topics: Mechanical systems with one degree of freedom, Frequency domain, Waves in solids, Interaction between longitudinal and transverse waves, General wave equation, Wave attenuation due to losses and transmission across junctions, Longitudinal vibrations of finite beams, Flexural vibrations of finite beams, Flexural vibrations of finite plates.

Structures excited by dynamic forces radiate noise. The art of noise reduction requires an understanding of vibro-acoustics. This topic describes how structures are excited, energy flows from an excitation point to a sound radiating surface, and finally how a structure radiates noise to a surrounding fluid. The aim of this text is to give a fundamental analysis and a mathematical presentation of these phenomena. The text is intended for graduate students, researchers and engineers working in the field of sound and vibration.

Book Synopsis Vibro-Acoustics by : Dhanesh N. Manik

Download or read book Vibro-Acoustics written by Dhanesh N. Manik. This book was released on 2017-04-07. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject of vibro-acoustics is important for the design of machine elements and structures, to minimize sound generated by them. For better machine designing, it is necessary for machine designers (mechanical engineers) to have a thorough knowledge of vibro-acoustics. Furthermore, since the design cycles of machines have become shorter, designers will have to design quiet machines at the drawing-board stage rather than applying "band-aid" techniques after the machine has been built. Although there is common ground in the treatment of acoustics, the subject of vibration is not very fortunate. Those interested in low-frequency vibration are generally concerned with the modal approach of using natural frequencies and mode shapes, whereas those interested in vibro-acoustics in medium and high frequencies are generally concerned with the wave approach. Since both modal and wave approaches have their advantages, it is a good idea to study both together to get the best out of them. This is useful for a better understanding the physics of vibro-acoustics. Written for students and professionals interested in gaining knowledge, this book systematically integrates the relevant aspects of vibro-acoustics from various viewpoints.
