Book Synopsis Environment, Climate, Plant and Vegetation Growth by : Shah Fahad

Download or read book Environment, Climate, Plant and Vegetation Growth written by Shah Fahad. This book was released on 2020-10-05. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an up-to-date account of the current understanding of climate change and global warming related to environment, climate, plant and vegetation growth. The aim of this book is to provide a platform for scientists and academics world-wide to promote, share, and discuss various new issues and developments in the area of plant and vegetation growth related to climate change. Over the next decades, it is predicted that billions of people, particularly those in developing countries, face shortages of water and food and greater risks to health and life as a result of climate change. Concerted global action is needed to enable developing countries to adapt to the effects of climate change that are happening now and will worsen in the future. The book will also enhance the understanding on issues related to climate change, giving a clear indication of a looming global warming crisis. Addressing global climate change is a monumental battle that can only be fought by the leaders of tomorrow, but future leaders are molded through education and shaped by the leaders of today.

Book Synopsis Climate - Vegetation: by : M.A. Zahran

Download or read book Climate - Vegetation: written by M.A. Zahran. This book was released on 2010-03-10. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deserts are unique ecosystems with their own biotic and abiotic components, and are often rich in renewable natural resources, the appropriate management of which can contribute significantly to the sustainable management of desert regions for the welfare of the people. Yet while there are many books on the flora of the countries fringing the important desert countries of the Mediterranean and Red Seas, there or few books reporting on their ecophysiology and vegetation ecology. This book presents the vegetation types of the African and Asian countries of the Mediterranean and Red Sea coastal regions, and discusses the ecological threats and economic applications of these critical resources. In particular, it examines the relationships between climate and vegetation, and discusses these within the context of desertification, agro-industrial applications, ecotourism and sustainable development. The book will provide a valuable reference for researchers and graduate students involved in plant ecology, biogeography, economic botany and environmental management in the Afro-Asian Mediterranean and Red Sea coastal regions, as well as other desert regions around the world.

Book Synopsis Vegetation and Climate by : Siegmar-W. Breckle

Download or read book Vegetation and Climate written by Siegmar-W. Breckle. This book was released on 2022-11-07. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vegetation, soil and climate are the most important components of ecological systems. The book represents a compact synthesis of our current knowledge about the ecology of the Earth and is thus the basis for understanding the major interrelationships in a global perspective. In the first part, with a rich endowment of illustrations and photographic material, the well-introduced book deals with the essential processes and operations on the Earth's surface that lead to the formation of the vegetation cover with its distinctive zonation. In the second part, the individual vegetation zones as large-scale ecosystems (i.e. zonobiomes of the biosphere) are consistently described comparatively according to certain criteria. In a short and compact form, the main characteristics and structures as well as examples of ecosystem processes are discussed. The large-scale ecosystems are at the same time the basis and reference system for all anthropogenic changes that have drastically altered the vegetation in the last millennia, but especially in the 20th century. This book is a translation of the original German 1st edition Vegetation und Klima by Siegmar-W. Breckle and M. Daud Rafiqpoor, published by Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature in 2019. The translation was done with the help of artificial intelligence (machine translation by the service DeepL.com). A subsequent human revision was done primarily in terms of content, so that the book will read stylistically differently from a conventional translation. Springer Nature works continuously to further the development of tools for the production of books and on the related technologies to support the authors.

Book Synopsis Linkages Between Global Vegetation and Climate by : Sietse Oene Los

Download or read book Linkages Between Global Vegetation and Climate written by Sietse Oene Los. This book was released on 1998. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation deals with temporal and spatial variations in the biosphere observed by satellite and the linkages of these variations with variations in the global climate. The study is part of a larger Earth Observing System (EOS) Interdisciplinary Science (IDS) Biosphere-Atmosphere Interactions project that deals with the implications of these interactions of biosphere-atmosphere interactions for the global carbon cycle. For this dissertation, both model results and observations were used.
