Book excerpt: This book contains the proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Ultrastructure Processing of Ceramics, Glasses and Composites, held February 20 - 24, 1989, in Tucson, Arizona. The conference was sponsored by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, College of Engineering and Mines, University of Arizona, and supported by the Directorate of Chemical and Atmospheric Sciences of the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR). More than 250 scientists and engineers from University industry, and government laboratories attended and included participants from the United States, Great Britain, Japan, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, Brazil, and Spain. Forty-two papers were presented orally, and an additional seventy-three papers were presented at a poster session.
