Book excerpt: Current itinerant art education programs are identified with major shortcomings. Literature directly related to itinerant art education is very sparse, but it is addressed. The findings of this paper are based heavily, in part, on a variety of qualitative research methods including observations, surveys, and interviews with teachers and an administrator. This research suggests that the itinerant art education program in one of the nation's largest county school districts can be improved in a variety of ways to best serve the needs of multicultural and multiethnic students and teachers alike that come from multiple socio-economic levels. At the time this study was published, the itinerant art program of this county is being reevaluated, implying that the findings of this study are valid.
