Book Synopsis Training standardized patients to provide feedback by : Mary Barbara Spalding

Download or read book Training standardized patients to provide feedback written by Mary Barbara Spalding. This book was released on 2016. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research has indicated that using standardized patients to provide written and verbal feedback is reliable. With the expansion of higher education healthcare enrollment, training standardized patients to provide effective feedback is a viable solution which allows faculty and staff to focus on other areas of simulation. The literature reveals a gap in best practices and shared resources for training standardized patients. As a response to the gap, this project attempts to provide a plan to create an online or hybrid workshop using Blackboard learning management system as a support to train standardized patients to provide both written and verbal feedback.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings to life best practices of Human Simulation; maximizing the Standardized Patient (SP) methodology that has played a major role in health professions learning and assessment since the 1960s. The Continuum Model spans improvisations, structured role-play, embedded participants, and simulated-standardized patients. This book also provides the full “how-to” for SP methodology covering topics including; case/scenario development, creating training material, training techniques for case portrayal, training communication and feedback skills, GTA/MUTA/PTA training, SP program administration and professional development for SP Educators. A pragmatic, user-friendly addition to the Comprehensive Healthcare Simulation series, Implementing Best Practices in Standardized Patient Methodology is the first book framed by the ASPE SOBPs, embracing best practices in human simulation and marshaling the vast expertise of a myriad of SP Educators.
