Book Synopsis The Vision of the Wheels: A Treatise on the Providence of God by : Matthew Mead

Download or read book The Vision of the Wheels: A Treatise on the Providence of God written by Matthew Mead. This book was released on 2012-10-31. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work by Mead is on the providence of God. Mead demonstrates through Ezekiel’s vision of the wheels that God is the great Creator of all things and upholds, directs, disposes and governs all creatures and actions, from the greatest even to the least. God does this by his most wise, holy and infallible knowledge and the free and immutable counsel of his own will. Mead uses as his main text of Scripture, “As for the wheels, it was cried to them in my hearing, “O Wheel!” (Ezekiel 10:13). He not only expounds on how God’s providence works generally, but how Christians should respond to God’s providence knowing that God is ultimately in control of everything, crowned by the redemption of the church through Jesus Christ. Those who have had a difficult time understanding Ezekiel’s vision of the wheels will find this exposition refreshing, insightful and practical for their spiritual growth. Book Synopsis The Day of Grace by : Nathaniel Vincent

Book excerpt: In this important evangelical treatise Vincent expounds on Luke 19:41-42, “And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong to thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.” He covers five main doctrines that apply to believers and unbelievers respectively: Doctrine 1: Christ is Full of Compassion; Doctrine 2: The Lord Grants a Day of Grace; Doctrine 3: Peace from God Given in the Day of Grace through Christ; Doctrine 4: Spiritual Blindness of Those Without Peace; and, Doctrine 5: Souls that are Left in Darkness. This treatise is especially practical for those who need the grace of Christ for conversion. This is one of those works Christians should give their unbelieving friends and family members that God may use this work to save them in this "day of grace." Book Synopsis Remembering Your Creator by : Matthew Mead

Download or read book Remembering Your Creator written by Matthew Mead. This book was released on 2020-11-13. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this work, Mead sets down the sincere choosing of God which should result in closing with Christ and being genuinely converted. His text is Ecclesiastes 12:1, “Remember your Creator now in the days of your youth.” He directed the sermons to the youth of the church, but they are by no means linked only to them, and will make older sinners blush as well as younger ones. He explains that the two great duties of the Christian life are to cease to do evil, and to learn to do well. No man can be good that does not cease to be evil. In the words of the preacher from Ecclesiastes, he shows that this exhortation is to take up a very concerning duty, backed with a threefold argument. In the duty, first, the act, which is to “remember.” Secondly, the object to be remembered, “your Creator.” And, thirdly, the time when he must be remembered, “now.” Sincere converts to the Christian faith should wisely improve this present life, and carefully provide for a better one to come. The one that is truly faithful in one will in some measure be conscious in both, and both are pointed at in Mead’s text. The one that in the days of his youth remembers his Creator as he ought, rightly improves the present life and wisely provides for that which is to come. In doing so, he unites in his practice those duties that God has joined together in the precept, “remember your Creator now in the days of your youth.” This work is not a scan or facsimile, has been carefully transcribed by hand being made easy to read in modern English, and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.
