Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 78: November 16, 1916 President Charles \v. Penrose was the first speaker. He bore his testimony to the fact that Joseph Smith was a prophet Of God. He dwelt upon the peace enjoyed by the true members of the Church, and then said, 'v e do not worship Joseph Smith; but we worship with him the great and holy Father, the Judge among judges. Jesus Christ anointed this prophet, Joseph Smith, and to him were given the keys of the kingdom, the keys now held by Joseph F. Smith, head of the Church. The speaker told of his first having learned of the existence of Joseph Smith, in a book written by a Frenchman, who had heard the Prophet delivering an address to some Indians. He recounted the interest which the teaching Of the founder of Mormonism created in his mind, and how he embraced the religion.
