Book Synopsis Lectures on Non-linear Plasma Kinetics by : Vadim Nikolaevich T︠S︡ytovich

Download or read book Lectures on Non-linear Plasma Kinetics written by Vadim Nikolaevich T︠S︡ytovich. This book was released on 1995. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lectures on Non-linear Plasma Kinetics is an introduction to modern non-linear plasma physics, showing how many of the techniques of modern non-linear physics find applications in plasma physics and how, in turn, the results of this research find applications in astrophysics. Emphasis is given to explaining the physics of nonlinear processes and the radical change of cross sections by collective effects. The author discusses new non-linear phenomena involving the excitation of coherent non-linear structures and the dynamics of their random motions in relation to new self-organisation processes. He also gives a detailed description of applications of the general theory to various research fields, including the interaction of powerful radiation with matter, collective laser particle accelerators, controlled thermonuclear research, space physics, solar physics, and astrophysics.

Book Synopsis Classical Kinetic Theory of Weakly Turbulent Nonlinear Plasma Processes by : Peter H. Yoon

Download or read book Classical Kinetic Theory of Weakly Turbulent Nonlinear Plasma Processes written by Peter H. Yoon. This book was released on 2019-09-12. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kinetic theory of weakly turbulent nonlinear processes in plasma helped form the foundation of modern plasma physics. This book provides a systematic overview of the kinetic theory of weak plasma turbulence from a modern perspective. It covers the fundamentals of weak turbulence theory, including the foundational concepts and the mathematical and technical details. Some key obstacles to space plasma applications are also covered, including the origin of non-thermal charged particle population, and radio burst phenomena from the sun. Treating both collective and discrete particle effects, the book provides a valuable reference for researchers looking to familiarize themselves with plasma weak turbulence theory.

Book Synopsis Plasma Instabilities and Nonlinear Effects by : A. Hasegawa

Download or read book Plasma Instabilities and Nonlinear Effects written by A. Hasegawa. This book was released on 2012-12-06. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years the significant progress in satellite-based observations of plasma states and associated electromagnetic phenomena in space has resulted in the accumulation of much evidence of various plasma instabilities. Today plasma instabilities are believed to be responsible for electromagnetic radiation as well as for many of the macroscopic dynamics of plasmas in space. Most students who begin to study plasma physics are intrigued by the unstable nature of plasmas compared with other states of matter; however, they often become frustrated because there are so many in stabilities. Such frustration explains in part why there is no textbook which treats this subject exclusively. A description of plasma instabilities in a systematic way is nontrivial and takes a pertinacious effort. This book is an attempt to provide a basic introduction on the subject and covers most of the important instabilities. However, the author must apologize for any omission of references to contributions of individuals who deserve more credit. The reader is assumed to have a general knowledge of plasma physics obtainable in an undergraduate course. The book is intended to be used as a reference text on the subject of plasma instabilities at the under graduate level as well as for a text in a special course in graduate school. Because the book is part of a series on physics and chemistry in space, emphasis is placed on plasma instabilities relevant in space plasmas.
