The greatest draft taken to Hartford is 94 feet: the average draft is not more than 8 feet, but during freshets vessels drawing 114 feet have sometimes come up to the city. Depth alongside wharves 10 feet. Seven feet draft can be taken to anchorage. Four feet at end of wharf on southwestern side of Salt island abreast of the village of Westbrook.
