A very few replies from Satow himself are included. This book offers a rare glimpse at hitherto unpublished material. 571 pages. 452 footnotes. Two illustrations. Crown copyright material is reproduced by permission of the Controller of HMSO. Also now sold in the National Archives (UK) bookshop.
