A desire to include a number of biographies that were necessarily omitted from the older issue was a minor influence. The reader will note that much space is devoted to a number of young men who represent the rising generation of "Showmen," and the author wishes to justify this procedure by expressing his belief that they will be found in a predominating position, even while the present volume is seeking vogue.
