Book Synopsis T-Kit 4 - Intercultural learning by : Council of Europe

Download or read book T-Kit 4 - Intercultural learning written by Council of Europe. This book was released on 2018-03-20. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intercultural learning is an important topic for the priorities of both the European Commission and the Council of Europe, and of their partnership in the field of youth. Intercultural learning is an educational approach that can lead to social transformation, so that people from different cultural backgrounds can develop positive relations based on the values and principles of human rights and on seeing cultural differences as positive things. It is a form of political and social education that needs to pay attention not only to intercultural relations, but also to different understandings of culture and diversity, power relations, distribution of resources, political and social context, human rights, discrimination, history and daily interactions among different groups. This T-Kit was developed for the context of youth work and non-formal education with young people, both of which support the personal development, social integration and active citizenship of young people. Educators and youth workers have an important role in addressing intercultural learning in their work with young people. They can stimulate young people’s learning in their daily lives, so that they can question and extend their perception, develop competences to interact positively with people from different cultural backgrounds and embrace the values of diversity, equality and dignity. In today’s Europe, these values and skills are fundamental for young people and for society as a whole in order to continue building peace and mutual understanding.

Book Synopsis T-Kit 8 - Social inclusion by : Adina Marina Călăfăteanu

Download or read book T-Kit 8 - Social inclusion written by Adina Marina Călăfăteanu. This book was released on 2017-11-01. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, there is an ample and nuanced understanding of what social exclusion is, the groups of young people affected by it, its long-term impact on young people’s lives and how comprehensive policies can address it. In contrast to when the first edition of this T-Kit was published, in 2003, there is now a common understanding that youth policies and research should provide a strong base for youth work to reach out and support young people with fewer opportunities. This revised T-Kit aims to equip youth work practitioners with broad knowledge of the concepts of social exclusion and inclusion, as well as things to consider when engaging in youth work with young people with fewer opportunities. The practical part of the T-Kit includes a range of projects, approaches and activities to inspire youth workers, covering the five “A”s: 1. Awareness of the realities of social exclusion, 2. Access to empowering and inclusive activities, 3. Action and support mechanisms for inclusion, 4. Accreditation and recognition of experience, progress and achievement and 5. Advancement, laying down supportive stepping stones towards inclusion.

Book Synopsis Training Essentials by : Adina Marina Serban

Download or read book Training Essentials written by Adina Marina Serban. This book was released on 2022-06-28. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This revised T-Kit aims to equip youth workers and youth trainers with the essentials of non-formal education training. It is a practical tool for them to develop training competences and learn more about educational theory, concepts, tools, practices, resources, as well as hands-on tips, as this handbook is written by trainers for trainers and youth workers in the European youth field. Whereas other T-Kits focus on one specific area of youth work training, this one emerges from the broader European youth work context and enables trainers and youth workers to reflect on their daily practice, as this publication follows the logic of an entire training cycle, from beginning to the end, of any youth training programme with an international dimension. The European youth training field has undergone massive changes since this T-Kit was first published in 2002. Especially when it comes to digitalisation, the focus on trainer competences and competence development, training standards and quality criteria for training, recognition of non-formal education, accessibility and diverse ability dimensions. Topics such as access, gender, environment and sustainability, or the focus on learning environments, emotional management and well-being of the trainer have greatly changed non-formal education settings. This T-Kit offers information, links and resources on how to work with young people in non-formal education training settings today and make a difference in their personal lives, as well as their peer groups and communities beyond
