There are few ways out of the slum in which you live. One is to get education, join criminal gangs, practice prostitution and at its worst get recruited to terror groups.However that is not the way you learned in your church, just up the path from your slum called Emanuel where they spoke of Holiness, right living and faith in God to bring about a future with hope. You have had a lot of hope, prayed a lot, but not seen the bright future. In fact many of the African children do not live long to know what life had in store for them. They succumb to illness, calamities and hostility in the community. Some are abandoned by their parents while others die in full watch of their parents who cannot do anything to stop the ordeal.The big question would be did their parents choose to be poor? Did they choose to live in drought invested regions which are unproductive? Did they choose not to seek education? Did they choose to bear children only for them to die or live a miserable life?Well when you get to the depth of this book you will realize that you are only lucky that life did not serve you with the same fate. It's sad that most people assume life is a bed of roses for everyone while it's totally a nightmare for many especially in poor African countries.
