BeauDril's ice-breaking supply vessels, Miscaroo and Ikaluk, are designed primarily for the transport of drilling supplies and equipment, and they also assist in anchor handling, towing and ice-management. Both vessels contain bulk storage and transfer facilities for barite, cement, fuel and water, as well as a large afterdeck suitable for up to 1 200 tonnes of cargo. Miscaroo and Ikaluk are of all-steel construction, and are 260 feet (79 metres) ng, with a moulded breadth of 56 feet (17.2 metres) and a moulded depth of 32 feet (9.7 metres). Both vessels have been designed to Arctic Ice Class IV specifications, enabling them to proceed continuously through ice at least four feet (1.2 metres) thick at a minimum of three knots. They are driven by four 3,725-horsepower diesel engines geared to twin shafts with controllable-pitch propellers, and have been designed to operate in heavy ice without interruption for up to 33 days, and in open water for as many as 55 days. Miscaroo and Ikaluk feature single-room accommodation for a crew of 22, with provision for 12 visitors, and both vessels have communal lounges and recreational facilities.
