Book excerpt: Everyone agrees that America is polarized, with ever-hardening positions held by people less and less willing to listen to one another. No one agrees on what to do about it. One solution that hasn’t yet been tried, says Adam Hamilton, is for thinking persons of faith to model for the rest of the country a richer, more thoughtful conversation on the political, moral, and religious issues that divide us. Hamilton rejects the easy assumptions and sloppy analysis of black and white thinking, seeking instead the truth that resides on all sides of the issues, and offering a faithful and compassionate way forward. He writes, "I don't expect you to agree with everything I've written. I expect that in the future even I won't agree with everything I've written here. The point is not to get you to agree with me, but to encourage you to think about what you believe. In the end I will be inviting those of you who find this book resonates with what you feel is true, to join the movement to pursue a middle way between the left and the right - to make your voices heard - and to model for our nation and for the church, how we can listen, learn, see truth as multi-sided, and love those with whom we disagree." Book excerpt: Revisit the thrilling Sam Owens series, with book two in the series from New York Times bestselling author J.T. Ellison. Dr. Samantha Owens is starting over: new city, new job, new man, new life. But before she’s even unpacked her office at Georgetown University’s forensic pathology department, she’s called to consult on a case that’s rocked the capital and the country. An unknown pathogen released into the Washington Metro has caused nationwide panic. Three people died—just three. Amid the media frenzy and Homeland Security alarm bells, Sam painstakingly dissects the lives of those three victims and makes an unsettling conclusion. This is no textbook terrorist, but an assassin whose motive is deeply personal and far from understandable. Xander Whitfield, a former army ranger and Sam’s new boyfriend, knows about seeing the world in shades of gray. About feeling compelled to do the wrong thing for the right reasons. Only his disturbing kinship with a killer can lead Sam to the truth…and once more into the line of fire. Originally published in 2012 “Shocking suspense, compelling characters and fascinating forensic details.” —Lisa Gardner, # 1 New York Times bestselling author “A terrific thriller…fans of forensic mysteries, such as those by Patricia Cornwell, should immediately add this series to their A-lists.” —Booklist

Book Synopsis Greyed by : April M. Brewer

Download or read book Greyed written by April M. Brewer. This book was released on 2021-03-20. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A significant person in my life told me that I see the world only in black and white. She told me I had no grey area when it came to myself or receiving it from others in my life. She fussed and made sure I knew that everything was not always black or white. She believed instead of answers of yes or no, I should accept a maybe or an I do not know or something from people. The reason is that things don't always go according to the way I want them to, and everyone doesn't always have an answer when I need it from them. When it comes to having grey areas in your life, it can be miles long, instead of a small space. So, this got my mind running and wondering, How many things have I accepted or not accepted by not being grey? I thought maybe this is how we should view race-everyone's nationality is Grey-we all bleed red blood. By viewing it this way, perhaps racism would end. My mind shifted to the point that I no longer introduced people to my black mind or my white mind, but to the book's purpose. Also, I could have spelled it as Gray, but I like Grey better.
