Geomorphology is useful not only for understanding the surface evolution of Earth, but of other solid planetary bodies as well. This monograph comprises three chapters, each detailing a specific recent development in geomorphology research. Chapter 1 describes the geomorphology of the Campo de Calatrava Volcanic Field in Central Spain, focusing on its volcanoes and the interference that any volcanic activity has produced in other forms of modeling and quaternary deposits. Chapter 2 analyzes the triggering of snow avalanches in the middle mountains of the Asturian Central Massif and their morphogenetic role in the dynamics and modeling of its slopes, a phenomenon that is impacted by the changing global climate. Chapter 3 analyzes the former fluvial erosion on Mars, adopting a model called SIMWE (SImulated Water Erosion) to recreate the geomorphological features observed on the planet today in an effort to understand its ancient climatic conditions"--

Meanwhile, modern monitoring technology and policy help-desk can support and minimize the present day's problems globally and also safeguard the natural environment's impending persistence in human society. So, this academic persuasion is a pioneer in minimizing the complications, like river course changes, glacier abolishment, geo-hazard crisis management, coastal area erosion management, geo-heritage conservation and management, and so on. Side by side, this present volume of the book caters a rational time-scale of the analyzed processes from mountain to coastal regions. And for better academic persuasion this will also incorporates the level of analysis, in the shape of `susceptibility' to `risk', with newly advanced methods. Geomor phology is now viewed as an indispensable partner of engineering and geology in the world of applied science. For a discipline with few independent theories of its own, geomorphology has become a cosmopolitan science, drawing on many topics from allied sciences. To compile a list of successful and viable applications and contribu tions would be an arduous chore, if not an impossible task. Instead we have compiled a set of invited papers that represent some of the practical developments and uses of geomorphology over the past de cade. Such a compilation of papers will reflect our own back grounds, biases, associations, and personal and professional expe riences. We make no apologies for the topics omitted, but recognize that this volume could be prohibitively large if all the subdivisions of geomorphology were equally and fully covered. Our goal in assembling the papers for this volume was to empha size the concepts, principles, and applications of geomorphology. While techniques, procedures and practical applications are stressed, the reason for each investigation is as important as the method em ployed. This book, therefore, represents the methods used and reasons for applying geomorphology. Where case studies are used, they serve as examples that can be applied in related situations, similar settings and other locations. The authors have successfully addressed this goal in a broad selection of chapter topics.
