Book Synopsis Domestic Manufacturing Capabilities for Critical DoD Applications by : National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine

Download or read book Domestic Manufacturing Capabilities for Critical DoD Applications written by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. This book was released on 2019-12-21. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent advancements in quantum-enabled systems present a variety of new opportunities and challenges. These technologies are important developments for a variety of computing, communications, and sensing applications. However, many materials and components relevant to quantum-enabled systems exist outside of the United States, and it is important to promote the development of assured domestic sources of materials, manufacturing capabilities, and expertise. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine convened a 2-day workshop to explore implications and concerns related to the application of quantum-enabled systems in the United States. This workshop focused on quantum-enabled computing systems, quantum communications and networks, and quantum sensing opportunities. Participants explored the path to quantum computing, communications, and networks, opportunities for collaboration, as well as key gaps, supply chain concerns, and security issues. This publication summarizes the presentations and discussions from the workshop.

Book Synopsis Quantum Sensing Experiments with Superconducting Qubits by : Schneider, Andre

Download or read book Quantum Sensing Experiments with Superconducting Qubits written by Schneider, Andre. This book was released on 2021-06-04. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum sensing is a vast and emerging field enabling in-situ studies of quantum systems and hence the development of quantum hybrid systems. This work creates the fundament of direct superconducting-magnetic hybrid systems by developing a local microwave sensing scheme and studying the influence of a static magnetic field on a superconducting qubit. Finally, a proof-of-principle hybrid system is demonstrated, which opens the path towards superconducting-magnetic quantum circuits.

Download or read book Quantum Communication, Quantum Networks, and Quantum Sensing written by Ivan B. Djordjevic. This book was released on 2022-07-17. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum Communication, Quantum Networks, and Quantum Sensing represents a self-contained introduction to quantum communication, quantum error-correction, quantum networks, and quantum sensing. It starts with basic concepts from classical detection theory, information theory, and channel coding fundamentals before continuing with basic principles of quantum mechanics including state vectors, operators, density operators, measurements, and dynamics of a quantum system. It continues with fundamental principles of quantum information processing, basic quantum gates, no-cloning and theorem on indistinguishability of arbitrary quantum states. The book then focuses on quantum information theory, quantum detection and Gaussian quantum information theories, and quantum key distribution (QKD). The book then covers quantum error correction codes (QECCs) before introducing quantum networks. The book concludes with quantum sensing and quantum radars, quantum machine learning and fault-tolerant quantum error correction concepts. - Integrates quantum information processing fundamentals, quantum communication, quantum error correction, quantum networks, QKD, quantum sensing, and quantum machine learning - Provides in-depth exposition on the design of quantum error correction circuits, quantum communications systems, quantum networks, and quantum sensing systems - Shows how to design the information processing circuits, stabilizer codes, CSS codes, entanglement-assisted quantum error correction codes - Describes quantum machine learning

Book Synopsis Quantum Dot Sensors by : John Callan

Download or read book Quantum Dot Sensors written by John Callan. This book was released on 2013-01-24. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Consisting of six chapters, written by experts in their field, this book charts the progress made in the use of quantum dots as the signaling component in optical sensors since their discovery in the early 1980s. In particular, it focuses on CdS-, CdSe-, and CdTe-type QDs due to their emission in the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum. The book begins by detailing the range of methods currently used for the preparation and passivation of core/core–shell quantum dots and follows with a discussion on their electrochemical properties and potential toxicity. The book culminates by focusing on how electron and energy transfer mechanisms can be utilized to generate a range of quantum dot-based probes. This is the first text of its kind dedicated to quantum dot-based sensors and will appeal to those readers who have an interest in working with these versatile nanoparticles.
