Book Synopsis Production, Properties, and Applications of Engineered Cementitious Composites by : Praveenkumar, S.

Download or read book Production, Properties, and Applications of Engineered Cementitious Composites written by Praveenkumar, S.. This book was released on 2024-04-19. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Engineered cementitious composites (ECC) is a new type of fiber-reinforced bendable cementitious composite that is used in various civil engineering applications instead of conventional and fiber-reinforced concrete due to its high mechanical and durable properties. In the macro and micro mechanic systems of ECC, the incorporation of different materials plays a vital role in enhancing the properties of ECC. Conventional concrete and fiber-reinforced concrete have a brittle nature and crack easily under environmental and mechanical loads, affecting the durability of structures. The usage of alternative materials in the ECC modifies the brittle nature and offers environmentally sustainable construction with low embodied energy and a negative carbon footprint. Production, Properties, and Applications of Engineered Cementitious Composites highlights the new and innovative ways of production, properties, and various applications of engineered cementitious composites. The main focus of the book is on the latest advancements, technical knowledge, tools, and solutions for engineered cementitious composites manufacturing, design, and technologies for construction from various perspectives. Covering key topics such as alternative materials, mineral admixtures, and testing of engineered cementitious composites, this premier reference source is ideal for engineers, industry professionals, researchers, academicians, scholars, practitioners, instructors, and students.

Book Synopsis Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC) by : Victor C. Li

Download or read book Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC) written by Victor C. Li. This book was released on 2019-04-30. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book on Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC), an advanced concrete material attracting world-wide attention in both the academic community and in industry. The book presents a comprehensive coverage of the material design methodology, processing methodology, mechanical and durability properties, smart functions, and application case studies. It combines effective use of illustrations, graphical data, and tables. It de-emphasizes mathematics in favor of physical understanding. The book serves as an introduction to the subject matter, or as a reference to those conducting research in ECC. It will also be valuable to engineers who need to quickly search for relevant information in a single comprehensive text.

Book Synopsis The Effects of Local Aggregates on the Mechanical Properties of Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC) by : Michel Obied

Download or read book The Effects of Local Aggregates on the Mechanical Properties of Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC) written by Michel Obied. This book was released on 2013. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Engineered Cementitous Composites (ECC) are a class of ultra-ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composites characterized by a strain hardening behavior and a high strain capacity when subjected to tensile loading. ECC integrates micromechanical models and fracture mechanics principles in the design concept which makes it an engineered material. These features promote ECC as a promising material for a wide range of applications which include repair of structures, and resistance to seismic activity, impacts, and blasts. However the high initial cost of the material which is three times the cost of conventional concrete hinders the widespread use of ECC. Also, the high carbon footprint and the high cement volume can be a potential problem for the environment. Therefore this research sought to reduce the cement volume by producing ECC with aggregates and producing it at an Aggregate to Binder ratio of 0.8. This means the new non-standard ECC has twice as much aggregate as can be found in standard ECC"--Abstract.

Book Synopsis Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Composites, Second Edition by : Arnon Bentur

Download or read book Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Composites, Second Edition written by Arnon Bentur. This book was released on 2006-11-22. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced cementitious composites can be designed to have outstanding combinations of strength (five to ten times that of conventional concrete) and energy absorption capacity (up to 1000 times that of plain concrete). This second edition brings together in one volume the latest research developments in this rapidly expanding area. The book is split into two parts. The first part is concerned with the mechanics of fibre reinforced brittle matrices and the implications for cementitious systems. In the second part the authors describe the various types of fibre-cement composites, discussing production processes, mechanical and physical properties, durability and applications. Two new chapters have been added, covering fibre specification and structural applications. Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Composites will be of great interest to practitioners involved in modern concrete technology and will also be of use to academics, researchers and graduate students.

Book Synopsis Strain-Hardening Cement-Based Composites by : Viktor Mechtcherine

Download or read book Strain-Hardening Cement-Based Composites written by Viktor Mechtcherine. This book was released on 2017-09-04. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Strain-Hardening Cement-Based Composites (SHCC4), that was held at the Technische Universität Dresden, Germany from 18 to 20 September 2017. The conference focused on advanced fiber-reinforced concrete materials such as strain-hardening cement-based composites (SHCC), textile-reinforced concrete (TRC) and high-performance fiber-reinforced cement-based composites (HPFRCC). All these new materials exhibit pseudo-ductile behavior resulting from the formation of multiple, fine cracks when subject to tensile loading. The use of such types of fiber-reinforced concrete could revolutionize the planning, development, dimensioning, structural and architectural design, construction of new and strengthening and repair of existing buildings and structures in many areas of application. The SHCC4 Conference was the follow-up of three previous successful international events in Stellenbosch, South Africa in 2009, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2011, and Dordrecht, The Netherlands in 2014.
