At Denver, Colorado, 1892 At Harrisburg we were joined by a fellow-voyager, Mr. B. F. Brown, of Lock Haven, who proved to be, in addition to a jolly good fellow, an amateur photographer of no mean capacity, and a cigarette smoker. The latter trait was soon suppressed in him, but the photography was fostered and nursed into full bloom, and many of the cuts through this book are due to his industry and generosity. The diaries provided by the committee were very extensively pencilled during the first day, and in quite a number the practice was kept up until the last. Many of them bore a family resemblance at the end of the trip to that of George Kessler, which showed a heading on the first page of Philadelphia, July isth, and was guiltless of word or letter thereafter during the whole thirty-one days.
