Book Synopsis Passionate Ambivalence by : Tim Clairmont

Download or read book Passionate Ambivalence written by Tim Clairmont. This book was released on 2024-01-04. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When I first started writing this book I typed an introduction trying to explain why everyone should read it. I wanted to let all the salespeople of the world know why they should care about their customers, and I wanted to convince them that the top salespeople are the ones who care about their customers the most. While I still believe that this is true, I don’t know it for sure. Regardless, I can say with confidence that this book is not for salespeople who don’t care about their customers. If you don’t care about your customers, please don’t read any further. In fact, if you don’t care about your customers, please consider a different career. It’s people like you who stay in sales for the wrong reasons that give salespeople a bad reputation. If you do care about your customers, then this book is about how you can show them that you care even more. This is about how you can help them in their own personal journey toward happiness. The old-school ways of selling where you try to manipulate and cajole your prospective client into buying something are truly obsolete. We live in a time when people have endless information at their fingertips. They care what you think, but they know much of the basic information themselves. Most of all, they want a salesperson they can trust. If you are looking for more manipulative sales tactics to figure out how to take advantage of more people and “close more sales,” then please don’t continue to read this book. If you are interested in helping to promote what I believe to be one of the most noble professions on the planet, that of an ethical salesperson, then please read further. And, share what you read. I want everyone to be happier. That is why I wake up each morning. That is why I run my wealth management firm. That is why I wrote this book. I hope that is why you are reading it.

Book Synopsis Mother Love/mother Hate by : Rozsika Parker

Download or read book Mother Love/mother Hate written by Rozsika Parker. This book was released on 1995. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Many a loving mother has had fleeting feelings of hatred toward her children - the desire to hurl a howling baby out the window or to lock a teenager out of the house. In this provocative book, Rozsika Parker argues that these ambivalent feelings not only are common but can actually have a creative impact on mothering." "Mother Love/Mother Hate boldly illustrates how a mother's desire for devotion coexists with the impulse to hurt and desert. Parents will find Parker's insight into the conflicts that beset them illuminating and deeply reassuring. Reversing the conventional psychoanalytic approach, in which maternal ambivalence has been understood chiefly from the point of view of the child, this book gives precedence to the mother's perspective. Drawing on interviews with mothers, clinical material from her practice as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, and a wide range of psychoanalytic and literary sources (including Virginia Woolf, Anne Tyler, Simone de Beauvoir, D. W. Winnicott, Melanie Klein, and John Bowlby), Parker explores experiences of maternal ambivalence in a culture painfully and profoundly uneasy about its very existence."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. Book Synopsis On Second Thought by : William R. Miller

Download or read book On Second Thought written by William R. Miller. This book was released on 2021-12-28. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rich inner world of a human being is far more complex than either/or. You can love and hate, want to go and want to stay, feel both joy and sadness. Psychologist William Miller--one of the world's leading experts on the science of change--offers a fresh perspective on ambivalence and its transformative potential in this revealing book. Rather than trying to overcome indecision by force of will, Dr. Miller explores what happens when people allow opposing arguments from their “inner committee members” to converse freely with each other. Learning to tolerate and even welcome feelings of ambivalence can help you get unstuck from unwanted habits, clarify your desires and values, explore the pros and cons of tough decisions, and open doorways to change. Vivid examples from everyday life, literature, and history illustrate why we are so often "of two minds," and how to work through it.

Book excerpt: The disturbing and intense films of Lars von Trier are often dismissed as misogynist, misanthropic, or anti-humanist.
