Book Synopsis Pagan Prison Ministry by : Charles Redden Butler, III

Download or read book Pagan Prison Ministry written by Charles Redden Butler, III. This book was released on 2016-11-02. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In American prisons, the Abrahamic faiths (Christianity, Judaism, and Islam) are supported in their faiths by chaplaincy. However, those of the Pagan faiths (Wicca, Santeria, Asatru) are often not understood and are not given time, space, and worship materials. This autobiographical textbook gives history, suggestions, examples, and contacts for improving outreach to Pagan and Heathen incarcerated people and those restored to society. The author has worked in four Federal prisons and is currently a volunteer in two county correctional centers and is in correspondence with facilities in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Missouri, and Kansas both with incarcerated people and their chaplains. Charles Butler Neto is pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Howard University School of Divinity. He was born of missionary parents in Brazil and is trained in Wicca and Santeria and is ordained through Rising Sun Outreach Ministry specifically for his work in prisons.

Book Synopsis The Wiccan Minister's Manual, a Guide for Priests and Priestesses by : Kevin M. Gardner

Download or read book The Wiccan Minister's Manual, a Guide for Priests and Priestesses written by Kevin M. Gardner. This book was released on 2008-07-10. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Wiccan Minister's Manual, A Guide For Priests and Priestesses, " was inspired as a training aid for those who would like to become Wiccan Ministers, as well as an aid for Wiccan/Pagan Priests and Priestesses. The Craft is evolving, becoming more and more accepted by society, and there is beginning to be a definite distinction between Wiccan Laity and Wiccan Clergy. Part One - Guidance - Making the spiritual connection to personal deity through love, prayer, meditation, ritual, and myth and how to guide others to create their own personal connections. Part Two - Wiccan religious philosophy and guidance - How to live a spiritual life in the modern world. Part Three - various methods of healing mind, body and spirit - Including some legal pit-falls to avoid, plus chapter eleven presents an extensive discourse on Pastoral Counseling. Part Four deals with psychic self-defense and rituals of protection. Including House Clearings, Banishings, and Exorcism. Additionally, the author explains what to look for and what to look out for while determining if an exorcism is really needed or if the client is suffering from psychosis and is in need of a professional therapist. Part Five focuses upon the spiritual support roles. It covers, dealing with death and dying, Funerals, Prison Ministry, Legal requirements of doing Handfastings in all 50 states, plus a discourse on whether or not to incorporate. This work begins to fill yet another gap in this area of the Wiccan religious structure as it brings back much of the older knowledge and philosophy that seems to be waning from the collective Wiccan memory. Reviewed by Edain McCoy; "Kevin, I received my copy of "Wiccan Minister's Manual Its terrific! You cover everything... Personally, I think you did a great job at making your book useful to all trads."

Book Synopsis Celebrating the Seasons of Life: Samhain to Ostara by : Ashleen O'Gaea

Download or read book Celebrating the Seasons of Life: Samhain to Ostara written by Ashleen O'Gaea. This book was released on 2009-04-21. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unique among books about the Wiccan Sabbats, Celebrating the Seasons of Life: Samhain to Ostara takes a different approach to explaining the holidays by taking an in-depth look at half of the Wheel of the Year. Rather than dissecting each holiday, Ashleen's goal is to take a broader look at them, explaining how and why we celebrate each, along with how the celebration of one leads to the next. The first of two new titles from Ashleen offers a vision of the holidays we celebrate from October to March. This book covers each holiday by first giving us its history and original customs, then explaining its place in modern life. Stories are shared for each Sabbat to reconnect us with our lore and bring new meaning to current practice. Ashleen includes ideas for rituals that are ideal for practicing solitaries, covens, or Wiccan families, with special sections on what children of various ages are ready to learn about these holidays.
