Book Synopsis Organometallics for Green Catalysis by : Pierre H. Dixneuf

Download or read book Organometallics for Green Catalysis written by Pierre H. Dixneuf. This book was released on 2019-02-25. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents the latest developments in the use of organometallic catalysis for the formation of bulk chemicals and the production of energy, via green processes including efficient utilization of waste feedstocks from industry. The chemistry of carbon dioxide relating to its hydrogenation into methanol –an eco-friendly energy storage strategy– and its uses as C1 synthon for the formation of important building-blocks for fine chemicals industry are covered. Catalytic hydrogenations of various functional groups and hydrogen transfer reactions including the use of first row metal catalysts are presented as well as the conversion of alcohols to carboxylates via hydrogen transfer with a zero-waste strategy using water. Transformation of renewable or bio-based raw materials is surveyed through alkene metathesis and C–O bond activations and functionalizations. A green aspect for selective formation of C-C, C-O and C-N bonds involves direct regioselective C–H bond activations and functionalizations. These transformations can now be promoted under mild reaction conditions due to the use photoredox catalyts. C–H bond oxidation using visible light leads mainly to the formation of C–O and C–N bonds, whereas cross-coupled C–C bonds can be formed through the radical additions on (hetero) arenes using photoredox assisted mechanism.

Book Synopsis Frontiers of Green Catalytic Selective Oxidations by : Konstantin P. Bryliakov

Download or read book Frontiers of Green Catalytic Selective Oxidations written by Konstantin P. Bryliakov. This book was released on 2019-10-02. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The demand for novel efficient and environmentally sustainable chemo, regio- and stereoselective catalyst systems for the oxidation of organic substrates is continuously growing in line with toughening economic and environmental constraints. This book addresses these issues; it consists of eleven chapters written by world-recognized experts in green and sustainable oxidation catalysis. The most urgent and challenging topics, in the judgment of the editor, such as green asymmetric epoxidations, sulfoxidatiuons, C–H oxidations; oxidation catalysis by polyoxometalates and oxidations in non-conventional solvents, etc. have been critically reviewed in this book. Both fundamental aspects, such as catalysts design, catalytic properties, nature of catalytically active sites and reaction mechanisms, and practical outlook of the oxidations have been addressed by the authors. The book appeals to a broad readership, particularly graduate students, employees of universities and research organizations, and industrial researchers, particularly those working in the areas of homogeneous oxidation catalysis, asymmetric synthesis, organocatalysis, sustainable catalytic processes and green chemistry, mechanisms of catalytic reactions, synthesis of bioactive compounds, biomimetic chemistry, etc. Konstantin Bryliakov is Leading Researcher at the Boreskov Institute of Catalysis. In 2016, he was elected Honorary Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Book Synopsis Aqueous-Phase Organometallic Catalysis by : Boy Cornils

Download or read book Aqueous-Phase Organometallic Catalysis written by Boy Cornils. This book was released on 2006-03-06. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now in its second completely revised and expanded edition. Written by the renowned editors B. Cornils and W. A. Herrmann, this book presents every important aspect of aqueous-phase organometallic catalysis, a method which saves time, waste and money. The large-scale application of this "green" technology in chemical industry clearly underlines its practical use outside of academia. New chapters (for example "Organic Chemistry in Water"), 20% more content and fully updated contributions from a plethora of international authors make this book a "must-have" for everyone working in this field. From the reviews of the first edition: "This overview will be extremely useful for everyone active in this field [...]" Angewandte Chemie "This book is an essential in any chemical research library and I strongly recommend it to all synthetic research and teaching chemists. [...]" The Alchemist "The editors are to be congratulated on assembling such a wide range of contributors who have described the industrial as well as the academic aspects of the subject." [...] Journal of Organometallic Chemistry
