Book Synopsis Organ Regeneration Based on Developmental Biology by : Takashi Tsuji

Download or read book Organ Regeneration Based on Developmental Biology written by Takashi Tsuji. This book was released on 2017-03-30. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reviews three-dimensional (3D) stem cell culture and proof of concept for organ regeneration. The chapters present studies based on developmental biology but not tissue engineering using bio-degradative scaffolds. The ultimate goal of regenerative therapy, the next generation of regenerative therapy, is to develop fully functioning bioengineered 3D organs that can replace lost or damaged organs following disease, injury, or aging. Next-generation regenerative therapy will consist of organ-replacement regenerative therapy, which aims to reproduce reciprocal epithelial and epithelial interactions and epithelial and mesenchymal interactions that occur during embryogenesis. The book then discusses the generation of several 3D functional organs and organoids such as brain, inner ear, tooth, hair, salivary glands, lacrimal glands, gastrointestinal organs, kidney, liver, and lung. This work will appeal to a wide readership such as medical scientists, developmental biologists, clinicians, and patients. The volume provides valuable information and ideas to form a next-generation field of science.

Book Synopsis Organ Regeneration by : L. D. Liozner

Download or read book Organ Regeneration written by L. D. Liozner. This book was released on 2013-03-09. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main theme of this monograph - conditions of regenera tion of organs in mammals - reflects an area of increasing empha sis which permeates much current Soviet research on regeneration. The introduction of this theme goes back about 25 years, and empha sis on the influence of environmental conditions upon regenerative processes has fluctuated until the mid-1960s, when the viewpoints on this subject were established in much the same form as they are expressed in this book. For years, Russian regeneration research has been charac terized by the presence of several dominant and often conflicting schools of thought. Since an acquaintance with these makes the in terpretation of many of the theoretical implications of this book, particularly in the introductory and concluding chapters, consider ably clearer, those not familiar with the Russian literature might profit by reading my brief survey of this field (Carlson, B. M., 1968. Re generation research in the Soviet Union, Anat. Rec., 160:665-674).

Book Synopsis Regenerative Engineering and Developmental Biology by : David M. Gardiner

Download or read book Regenerative Engineering and Developmental Biology written by David M. Gardiner. This book was released on 2017-08-21. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Regenerative Engineering and Developmental Biology: Principles and Applications examines cutting-edge developments in the field of regenerative engineering. Specific attention is given to activities that embrace the importance of integrating developmental biology and tissue engineering, and how this can move beyond repairing damage to body parts to instead regenerate tissues and organs. The text furthermore focusses on the five legs of the field of regenerative engineering, including: materials, developmental biology, stem cells, physics, and clinical translation. This book was written by leading developmental biologists; each chapter examines the processes that these biologists study and how they can be advanced by using the tools available in tissue engineering/biomaterials. Individual chapters are complete with concluding remarks and thoughts on the future of regenerative engineering. A list of references is also provided to aid the reader with further research. Ultimately, this book achieves two goals. The first encourages the biomedical community to think about how inducing regeneration is an engineering problem. The second goal highlights the discoveries with animal regeneration and how these processes can be engineered to regenerate body parts. Regenerative Engineering and Developmental Biology: Principles and Applications was written with undergraduate and graduate-level biomedical engineering students and biomedical professionals in mind.
