Book Synopsis Nanodevices for Microwave and Millimeter Wave Applications by : Isabelle Huynen

Download or read book Nanodevices for Microwave and Millimeter Wave Applications written by Isabelle Huynen. This book was released on 2020-06-16. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The microwave and millimeter wave frequency range is nowadays widely exploited in a large variety of fields including (wireless) communications, security, radar, spectroscopy, but also astronomy and biomedical, to name a few. This Special Issue focuses on the interaction between the nanoscale dimensions and centimeter to millimeter wavelengths. This interaction has been proven to be efficient for the design and fabrication of devices showing enhanced performance. Novel contributions are welcome in the field of devices based on nanoscaled geometries and materials. Applications cover, but not are limited to, electronics, sensors, signal processing, imaging and metrology, all exploiting nanoscale/nanotechnology at microwave and millimeter waves. Contributions can take the form of short communications, regular or review papers.

Book Synopsis Nanoscale Microwave Engineering by : Charlotte Tripon-Canseliet

Download or read book Nanoscale Microwave Engineering written by Charlotte Tripon-Canseliet. This book was released on 2014-03-06. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book targets new trends in microwave engineering by downscaling components and devices for industrial purposes such as miniaturization and function densification, in association with the new approach of activation by a confined optical remote control. It covers the fundamental groundwork of the structure, property, characterization methods and applications of 1D and 2D nanostructures, along with providing the necessary knowledge on atomic structure, how it relates to the material band-structure and how this in turn leads to the amazing properties of these structures. It thus provides new graduates, PhD students and post-doctorates with a resource equipping them with the knowledge to undertake their research.

Book Synopsis Advanced Materials and Technologies for Micro/Nano-Devices, Sensors and Actuators by : Evgeni Gusev

Download or read book Advanced Materials and Technologies for Micro/Nano-Devices, Sensors and Actuators written by Evgeni Gusev. This book was released on 2010-03-03. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A NATO Advanced Research Workshop (ARW) entitled “Advanced Materials and Technologies for Micro/Nano Devices, Sensors and Actuators” was held in St. Petersburg, Russia, from June 29 to July 2, 2009. The main goal of the Workshop was to examine (at a fundamental level) the very complex scientific issues that pertain to the use of micro- and nano-electromechanical systems (MEMS and NEMS), devices and technologies in next generation commercial and defen- related applications. Micro- and nano-electromechanical systems represent rather broad and diverse technological areas, such as optical systems (micromirrors, waveguides, optical sensors, integrated subsystems), life sciences and lab equipment (micropumps, membranes, lab-on-chip, membranes, microfluidics), sensors (bio-sensors, chemical sensors, gas-phase sensors, sensors integrated with electronics) and RF applications for signal transmission (variable capacitors, tunable filters and antennas, switches, resonators). From a scientific viewpoint, this is a very multi-disciplinary field, including micro- and nano-mechanics (such as stresses in structural materials), electronic effects (e. g. charge transfer), general electrostatics, materials science, surface chemistry, interface science, (nano)tribology, and optics. It is obvious that in order to overcome the problems surrounding next-generation MEMS/NEMS devices and applications it is necessary to tackle them from different angles: theoreticians need to speak with mechanical engineers, and device engineers and modelers to listen to surface physicists. It was therefore one of the main objectives of the workshop to bring together a multidisciplinary team of distinguished researchers.
