In the e-learning domain, the learning resources, teachers and learners and the active learning processes in their entirety construct the learning ecosystems. This thesis examines the modelling of learning ecosystems to support their aggregation and reuse. To achieve this goal, learning ecosystem models must support aggregation, compatibility, interoperability and granular re-usability of their data. Through user studies, digital model concepts of learning ecosystems, i.e. so-called LOOCs (linked open online courses), were developed. In particular, Semantic Web technologies and Linked Data concepts are considered within the context. The developed ontological models form the basis for a number of e-learning applications that show the viability of the concepts as well as a high user acceptance. Further, a formal interpreter model for CSCL (Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning) Scripts for the description of learning processes specified by using Abstract State Machines is presented.

Download or read book Adaptive Web Services for Modular and Reusable Software Development: Tactics and Solutions written by Ortiz, Guadalupe. This book was released on 2012-09-30. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Web services provide systems with great flexibility and easier maintenance which result in better ways to communicate and distribute applications. There are good procedures in place for the design, development, and management of Web services; however, there are areas in which Web service adaptation is required. To preserve the loosely coupled approach of Web services, service adaptations should be implemented appropriately. Adaptive Web Services for Modular and Reusable Software Development: Tactics and Solutions includes current research on the area of Web service adaptation while embarking upon the different aspects related to Web services. This collection provides an overview of existing solutions for service adaption in different development scopes as well as covers a wide variety of challenges which emerge. It aims to keep industry professionals as well as academic researchers up to date with the latest research results.

Book excerpt: This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 23rd IFIP WG 6.1 International Conference on Coordination Models and Language, COORDINATION 2021, held in Valletta, Malta, in June 2021, as part of the 16th International Federated Conference on Distributed Computing Techniques, DisCoTec 2021. The 15 regular papers, 2 short papers, and 1 tutorial paper presented in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 31 submissions. COORDINATION provides a well-established forum for the growing community of researchers interested in coordination models and languages, architectures, verification and implementation techniques necessary to cope with the complexity induced by the demands of today's software development. The tool papers describe experience reports, technological artefacts, and innovative prototypes, as well as educational tools in the scope of the research topics of the conference. Due to the Corona pandemic this event was held virtually.

Book Synopsis Big Data by : Kuan-Ching Li

Download or read book Big Data written by Kuan-Ching Li. This book was released on 2015-09-15. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As today’s organizations are capturing exponentially larger amounts of data than ever, now is the time for organizations to rethink how they digest that data. Through advanced algorithms and analytics techniques, organizations can harness this data, discover hidden patterns, and use the newly acquired knowledge to achieve competitive advantages. Presenting the contributions of leading experts in their respective fields, Big Data: Algorithms, Analytics, and Applications bridges the gap between the vastness of Big Data and the appropriate computational methods for scientific and social discovery. It covers fundamental issues about Big Data, including efficient algorithmic methods to process data, better analytical strategies to digest data, and representative applications in diverse fields, such as medicine, science, and engineering. The book is organized into five main sections: Big Data Management—considers the research issues related to the management of Big Data, including indexing and scalability aspects Big Data Processing—addresses the problem of processing Big Data across a wide range of resource-intensive computational settings Big Data Stream Techniques and Algorithms—explores research issues regarding the management and mining of Big Data in streaming environments Big Data Privacy—focuses on models, techniques, and algorithms for preserving Big Data privacy Big Data Applications—illustrates practical applications of Big Data across several domains, including finance, multimedia tools, biometrics, and satellite Big Data processing Overall, the book reports on state-of-the-art studies and achievements in algorithms, analytics, and applications of Big Data. It provides readers with the basis for further efforts in this challenging scientific field that will play a leading role in next-generation database, data warehousing, data mining, and cloud computing research. It also explores related applications in diverse sectors, covering technologies for media/data communication, elastic media/data storage, cross-network media/data fusion, and SaaS.
