Janet Qually earned a degree in Christian Ministry and a Masters in Guidance and Counseling. She has conducted seminars in Life Skills and Anger Management. Her writing is influenced by her previous work in prison ministry, as well as by assisting the men and women she recruited in shelters for a funded program designed to help participants seek and obtain jobs. She enjoys illustrating her writing with digital art. Janet's experience includes: Full time prison ministry in St. Louis, Missouri; Managing a program assisting homeless men and women in Joplin, Missouri; Weekend Manager at the Ronald McDonald House in Joplin, Missouri; A Family Resource Specialist at Head Start in Joplin, Missouri; Hospice volunteer in St. Louis, Missouri; Volunteering for six weeks at a distribution center following the 2011 Joplin tornado; Public speaking opportunities in radio and other forums; and A radio reader for the blind at WYPL, FM 89.3, Memphis, Tennessee. Her poetry has been published in a number of print and online journals, including American Tanka, Atlas Poetica, Bamboo Hut, Bright Stars, Cattails, Frogpond, Haibun Today, Hedgerow, Lyrical Passion Poetry E-Zine, Moonbathing, Red Lights, Ribbons and Skylark.
