Download or read book Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide written by . This book was released on 2015. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication describes a pavement design methodology, termed mechanistic-empirical (M-E) pavement design, that represents a major change from the pavement design methods in practice today. Based on engineering mechanics that have been validated through extensive road test performance data, the manual presents information necessary for pavement design engineers to begin using use the MEPDG design and analysis method. The manual references AASHTOWare Pavement ME Design, M-E Pavement design software, commercially available through AASHTOWare, AASHTO's software development program. AASHTOWare Pavement ME Design has been revised from the software described in the previous edition of this manual, based upon evaluations performed by state departments of transportation and others in the community of practice. The book contains 13 chapters. After an introductory chapter, the chapters address: referenced documents and standards; significance and use of the MEPDG; terminology and definition of terms; performance indicator prediction methodologies; general project information; selection design criteria and reliability level; determining site conditions and factors; pavement evaluation for rehabilitation design; determination of materials properties for new paving materials; pavement design strategies; rehabilitation design strategies; and interpretation and analysis of the results of the trial design.
