Book Synopsis Lost Adventures by : Edward Marshall Perdue

Download or read book Lost Adventures written by Edward Marshall Perdue. This book was released on 2005. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If one wants to begin to understand the GULAG, he would read anyone of at least 131 books such as; - My twenty-two prisons and My Escape from Solovetski, 1929, by Bezonov, Eliuriai Dimitrevich - Red Gaols, a Woman's Experiences in Russian Prisons, 1935, by author did not want to be identified. - Prisoner of the OGPU, 1935, by Kitechin, George. - An Account of the Construction of the New Canal between the White Sea and the Baltic Sea, 1935, by Maxim Gorky, and 30 writers. Many people refer to the book The Gulag Archipelago, 1974, by Solzenitsyn, I., as "the" book on the GULAG partly from his experience and research thereof. The author started with a simple expression written about John W. Adkins: "He left home at an early age, and never returned home age". There was literally no information about him. Most people, familiar with my work, have been totally amazed at the amount of the information, documents, obtained by the author from the archives on one individual. After many years of work, the author did not want to leave this material to just a research project sitting on the bookshelf.

Book Synopsis Looking to Get Lost by : Peter Guralnick

Download or read book Looking to Get Lost written by Peter Guralnick. This book was released on 2020-10-27. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By the bestselling author of Sam Phillips: The Man Who Invented Rock ‘n’ Roll and Last Train the Memphis: The Rise of Elvis Presley, this dazzling new book of profiles is a culmination of Peter Guralnick’s remarkable work, which from the start has encompassed the full sweep of blues, gospel, country, and rock 'n' roll. It covers old ground from new perspectives, offering deeply felt, masterful, and strikingly personal portraits of creative artists, both musicians and writers, at the height of their powers. “You put the book down feeling that its sweep is vast, that you have read of giants who walked among us,” rock critic Lester Bangs wrote of Guralnick’s earlier work in words that could just as easily be applied to this new one. And yet, for all of the encomiums that Guralnick’s books have earned for their remarkable insights and depth of feeling, Looking to Get Lost is his most personal book yet. For readers who have grown up on Guralnick’s unique vision of the vast sweep of the American musical landscape, who have imbibed his loving and lively portraits and biographies of such titanic figures as Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke, and Sam Phillips, there are multiple surprises and delights here, carrying on and extending all the themes, fascinations, and passions of his groundbreaking earlier work. Book Synopsis The Lost Adventures of Captain Veneti by : Jayson C. Stiles

Download or read book The Lost Adventures of Captain Veneti written by Jayson C. Stiles. This book was released on 2016-05-18. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1502, amidst the "Age of Discovery," young Captain Raidyn Veneti prepares to set off on an adventure beyond his wildest dreams. A charismatic Venetian merchant, he is master of a uniquely designed ship called La Pasquala, the brainchild of a mysterious and talented man who once gave Veneti a secret key. While in Valencia, Veneti gets a note from the gnostic, a man he very much respects, requesting his immediate presence. The captain and his crew are to meet him in Tarragona. The note is cryptic at best, and although Veneti senses his friend is in trouble, he heeds the call, concerns notwithstanding. Veneti cannot possibly suspect a dark presence follows him as he goes. Neither could he suspect he is about to sail from the Mediterranean to the ends of the world and beyond. La Pasquala and her crew are on a daring journey to discover a mystic truth that has been kept hidden for centuries, and no high sea experience could prepare them for the out-of-this-world thrill ride.
