Book Synopsis Profitable Partnering for Lean Construction by : Clive Thomas Cain

Download or read book Profitable Partnering for Lean Construction written by Clive Thomas Cain. This book was released on 2008-04-15. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The lean procurement techniques given in this practical guide couldsave clients up to 40% of total design and construction costs; casehistory evidence is included to prove that the techniques reallywork. The guide goes on to explain in equal depth the leanconstruction techniques that supply-side design and constructionfirms (including trades contractors) need to adopt to deliver thesavings while boosting their profit margins. Written in an accessible style, it explains why lean constructiontechniques will only deliver this high level of savings if they areunderpinned by long-term, strategic, supply-side partneringrelationships between consultants, construction contractors, tradescontractors and manufacturers. This is a 'how to' book written in terms everyone can understand, without the need for an expert interpreter or costly training.

Book Synopsis Lean Construction 4.0 by : Vicente A. González

Download or read book Lean Construction 4.0 written by Vicente A. González. This book was released on 2022-12-30. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces and develops the novel concept of Lean Construction 4.0. The capability of Lean Construction to effectively adapt the architecture-engineering-construction (AEC) industry to this new era of digital transformation requires a reconceptualization of the triad people-processes-technology as a foundation for the theoretical and practical framework of Lean Construction. Therefore, a shift towards Lean Construction 4.0 is required. Lean Construction 4.0 is a new systems-wide thinking approach where synergies and overlaps between Lean Construction and digital/smart technologies go far beyond BIM to reshape the way we design, manage, and operate capital projects in the modern age of automation. This pioneering new book brings together the views of world experts at the interface of Lean Construction and digital/smart technologies, in order to channel research efforts, to introduce and discuss current research and practice, challenges and drivers, and future perspectives of Lean Construction 4.0. It is not the aim of the book to keep adding digits to the term ‘Lean Construction’ to ‘catch up’ with the industry revolutions as they go on. Instead, after reading this book, it will be undeniable for readers that the triad process-people-technology as proposed by Lean Construction 4.0 is required to achieve an effective, long-lasting digital transformation of the AEC industry. Thus, the aim of Lean Construction 4.0 is better explained by what it evokes: a future vision of construction systems comprising people, processes, and technology using Industry 4.0/5.0 as a basis for technological innovation in the AEC industry coupled with Lean Construction theory and practice as a jettison for improved processes and systems integration. The Lean Construction 4.0 concept coined and developed in this edited book is unique and the chapters provide practitioners and academics with a provocative reflection on the theoretical and practical aspects that shape the Lean Construction 4.0 concept. More importantly, Lean Construction 4.0 proposes a rationale for the AEC industry not only to survive, but to thrive!

Book Synopsis Lean In Construction by : Ade Asefeso MCIPS MBA

Download or read book Lean In Construction written by Ade Asefeso MCIPS MBA. This book was released on 2014-05-04. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lean Construction is a way to do more and more with less and less; less effort, less equipment, less time and less space whilst providing customers with exactly what they want. A Lean system, process, and organisation is one that is waste free. Lean is not about size or number of people employed. A reduction in employees may cut costs, and eliminate the waste of those employees, but does not decrease the proportion of waste to value adding within the organisation or process. Most waste is through products waiting to be worked on by succeeding activities. Construction is possibly the last frontier for lean. Although manufacturing’s productivity has improved during the last 40 years, the construction industry has experienced a slight decline. Even though the construction world has embraced high-tech tools, we still manage projects the same way we always have, and we are still getting the same poor results. Less than 30 percent of projects come in on time, on budget, and within specification. The answers to improving construction productivity are not in more software or technology.
