Book Synopsis Laparoscopic Techniques in Uro-Oncology by : Bertrand Guillonneau

Download or read book Laparoscopic Techniques in Uro-Oncology written by Bertrand Guillonneau. This book was released on 2009-06-13. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This utterly comprehensive work covers all of the techniques involved in uro-oncology. These techniques are widely accepted, well established, safe, standardized, reproducible, and teachable. The aim is not to divide oncology into two worlds (open surgery versus laparoscopy), but to enlarge the technical proposals, with the same common goal. The book contains black and white drawings only as these are generally more precise and give a clearer understanding. It will be essential reading for all urologists interested in laparoscopy as well as urologists in training (residents) or doing a fellowship in Oncology or Minimally Invasive Surgery.

Book Synopsis Laparoscopic Urologic Oncology by : Jeffrey A. Cadeddu

Download or read book Laparoscopic Urologic Oncology written by Jeffrey A. Cadeddu. This book was released on 2003-08-29. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Minimally invasive urologic surgery is revolutionizing how physicians treat many urologic diseases. Laparoscopy in particular has reduced the pain, morbidity, and recovery time for many procedures traditionally per formed through an open incision. Since laparoscopy is now the preferred modality for many benign conditions, the indications have expanded with the technique, so that it is now applied to the management of most urologic cancers. The aim of Laparoscopic U rolo g ic Oncology is to provide the first com prehensive textbook dedicated to the minimally invasive management of urologic cancers. The book is not intended to review the biology of urologic tumors, which is well covered in other texts, but rather their management. In particular, it focuses on surgical technique and the role of laparoscopic surgery in the management of these tumors. It also addresses patient con ditions for which a minimally invasive alternative does not exist. The book is not a surgical atlas, but it does provide a balanced insight into its indica tions, contraindications, and results. Furthermore, the authors compare results to conventional open surgery, discuss controversies, and identify the shortcomings of minimally invasive procedures. In particular, such issues as the adequacy of oncologic results and their morbidity are com pared to those experienced with conventional open techniques. Laparoscopic Urologic Oncology focuses on educating both general urologists and urologic oncologists on the current and future role of laparoscopy and other minimally invasive techniques in urologic oncology.

Book Synopsis New Challenges in Laparoscopic Urologic Surgery by : E. Higashihara

Download or read book New Challenges in Laparoscopic Urologic Surgery written by E. Higashihara. This book was released on 2004. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 5 years since the publication of Urologic Laparoscopy by the Japanese Society of Endourology and ESWL, the field has moved on apace, particularly technologically. It is with an eye on the need to disseminate the latest information on this progress that this collection has been assembled, highlighting the most recent advances in laparoscopic urologic oncology surgery. With treatment options becoming ever more complicated, it is essential to keep the prime objectives in mind - improved quality of life for the patient, minimal complications, early convalescence, and a better end result. In our effort to cover a broad range of techniques from renal cyst decortication to robotic laparoscopic camera control, we are in debt to surgeons at the forefront of treatment, not only in Japan but worldwide, and to manufacturers who are constantly innovating in their equipment. The contributors are enthusiastic in their expertise, as shown in the quality of the material they have produced.

Download or read book Minimally Invasive Uro-Oncologic Surgery written by Robert G. Moore. This book was released on 2005-01-25. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The invention of laparoscopic urological techniques in the early 1990s was met with scepticism by urologists who demanded that the methods prove themselves when compared to established 'open' surgical procedures. However, the techniques were quickly shown as successful, and over time have gained acceptance through reproducible and durable outcomes. In this well-illustrated surgical text, an international team of urologic surgeons specializing in uro-oncology share the experience gained in effective and reproducible teaching techniques in the field, and present the pioneering knowledge that will enable others to learn more about this important, ground-breaking procedure.
