Book Synopsis The Insanity of Obedience by : Nik Ripken

Download or read book The Insanity of Obedience written by Nik Ripken. This book was released on 2014-01-01. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wise Sheep Among the Wolves All Christian disciples have one thing in common: as they carry the gospel across the ocean and across the street, persecution will become the norm for those who choose to follow Jesus. How believers respond in the face of persecution reveals everything about their level of faith and obedience. The Insanity of Obedience is a bold challenge to global discipleship. Nik Ripken exposes the danger of safe Christianity and calls readers to something greater. The Insanity of Obedience challenges Christians in the same, provocative way that Jesus did. This book dares you—and prepares you—to cross the street and the oceans with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Some of Jesus’ instructions sound uncomfortable and are potentially dangerous. We may be initially encouraged by His declaration, “I am sending you out.” But how are we to respond when He then tells us that He is sending us out “like sheep among wolves"? In light of the words of Jesus, how can modern day believers rest comfortably in the status quo? How can we embrace casual faith in light of the radical commands of Jesus which are anything but casual? Ripken brings decades of ministry experience in some of the most persecuted areas of the world to bear on our understanding of faith in Jesus. The Insanity of Obedience is a call to roll up your sleeves . . . and to follow and partner with Jesus in the toughest places on this planet. "We have the high privilege of answering Jesus’ call to go," Ripken says. "But let us be clear about this: we go on His terms, not ours. If we go at all, we go as sheep among wolves." Jesus gives us Himself. And He gives us the tools necessary for those who dare to journey with Him.

Book Synopsis If the Foundations be Destroyed by : Dr John McElhaney

Download or read book If the Foundations be Destroyed written by Dr John McElhaney. This book was released on 2019-08-21. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reveals the problems that we have today that are destroying the things that God has established. The picture of the family has been so distorted because of divorce, living together without marriage, homosexual marriage and lifestyle, transvestites, and many other things, that it does not resemble what God established at all. The government has been corrupt ever since it has been in place. Look at the horrible things the government has sanctioned down through the years. The treatment of the native Americans, by killing them and taking their land through trickery or force. Look at slavery, the most horrendous thing this country has ever done is enslaving black folks for two hundred fifty years, and after they received freedom they were still treated as inferior and not welcome by white folks. The church in America does not resemble the early church at all, weak preachers, who fear man more than God. The church is totally segregated in American, the white church still is so prejudice in the south.

Download or read book If the Foundations Are Destroyed written by K. Alan Snyder. This book was released on 2010-04. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Our dangers are of two kinds, those which affect our religion, and those which affect our government. They are, however, so closely allied that they cannot, with propriety, be separated. The foundations which support the interests of Christianity are also necessary to support a free and equal government like our own.... Whenever the pillars of Christianity shall be overthrown, our present republican forms of government, and all the blessings which flow from them must fall with them." -Rev. Jedidiah Morse, 1799 The author believes Rev. Morse's warning is still applicable today. The basic Biblical principles upon which American civil government were founded are rapidly disappearing in our society. Yet he doesn't simply point out the problem; he also explains how the reinstatement of specific Biblical principles into American society and government can reverse the damage. The foundations can be rebuilt. K. Alan Snyder is a department chair and professor of American history at Southeastern University in Florida. He taught previously at Patrick Henry College in northern Virginia, in the graduate school of government at Regent University, and in the history/political science department at Indiana Wesleyan University. Dr. Snyder received his Ph.D. in history at The American University in Washington, D.C., and worked for several years as a historical/political consultant in the Washington, D.C. area. He is the author of Mission: Impeachable and Defining Noah Webster. Dr. Snyder ponders principles daily on his weblog at: PonderingPrinciples.com

Book excerpt: Foundation addresses the very core of our integral being. It is the single most important thing in our lives. Our success or failure is determined by the type of foundation we have. No marriage succeeds without a solid foundation. No business lasts without a solid foundation. No country triumphs without a firm foundation. No ministry experiences a breakthrough without it. Foundation is connected to every aspect of our lives. I have seen a lot of families, businesses, Careers and ministries growing or breaking up as a result of the foundations they laid. Beloved, the purpose of this book is not just to reveal the effects of the wrong foundation we have laid but also to reveal the remedy for the broken foundation. If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalm 11:3, KJV). This question remains the enigma that everybody needs to solve. As you read this book, ask yourself some sincere questions regarding the problems youve had and the one you are passing through right now. Are the foundations of your marriage, business, career, spiritual life, etc., in good order? If not, my prayer for you is that as you read this book, you might find joy, peace, victory, solution and fulfilment that only the power available in the name of Jesus Christ, our ultimate Foundation brings.
