Book Synopsis Humbling Faith by : Peter Admirand

Download or read book Humbling Faith written by Peter Admirand. This book was released on 2019-03-22. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book hoping to embolden doubt and sharpen unanswerable questions, all in the context of loving the self and one another. Ridiculously, it believes the world can be healed through such a hope. It is especially addressed to those allergic to the word “faith,” and others who feel confident and proud in the faith they profess or system of thought they live by. Humbling Faith helps us see how our beliefs, or non-beliefs, our belongings and identities, often remain flawed, myopic, self-absorbed, unredeemed. The hope is that such awareness of our brokenness can fuel greater ethical partnerships and dialogue, promoting peace from our recognized need for one another. Humbling Faith is not only a resource towards humbling other faiths, but most importantly, your own.

Book Synopsis Not God Enough by : J.D. Greear

Download or read book Not God Enough written by J.D. Greear. This book was released on 2018-02-06. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pastor and author J. D. Greear reveals that the secret to a robust, passionate faith isn't getting all the right answers about God, but seeing God as the awesome, glorious, and infinite presence that He is. We like God small. We prefer a God who is safe, domesticated, who thinks like we think, likes what we like, and whom we can manage, predict, and control. A small God is convenient. Practical. Manageable. For us, thinking of God as so infinitely greater and wiser than we are and who would cause us to tremble in his presence is a leftover relic from an oppressive, archaic view of religion. But what if this small version of God we've created is holding us back from the greatest experience of our lives--from genuine, confident, world-transforming faith? In Not God Enough, J.D. reveals how to discover a God who: is big enough to handle your questions, doubts, and fears is not silent is worthy of worship wants to take you from boring to bold in your faith has a purpose and mission for you on earth is pursuing you right now The truth: God is big. Bigger than big. Bigger than all the words we use to say big. Only a God of infinite power, wisdom, and majesty can answer our deepest questions and meet our deepest longings. God is not just a slightly better, slightly smarter version of you. God is infinite and glorious, and an encounter with Him won't just change the way you think about your faith. It'll change your entire life.

Book excerpt: This book is different from most other books of the same genre. It simply takes another approach at expounding upon these great Biblical themes. The author has taken the letters of each theme, and has built a chapter or chapters upon each letter. The author simply believes that there is something else to be said than what has been said so far about The Christian Faith.the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. May God bless each reader who reads these few pages. Dr. Jones was born in the small, Southeastern Kentucky community of Girdler. He is the youngest of fourteen children (seven boys and seven girls). He and his wife Carolyn now reside in Hamilton, OH. Dr. Jones has earned a Masters degree in Theology, and a Doctorate in Religion, having held five pastorates in over thirty years of ministry. This present work is his fourth book.

Book Synopsis Anchored in Grace by : Jeremy Walker

Download or read book Anchored in Grace written by Jeremy Walker. This book was released on 2015-06-01. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Salvation is anchored in grace, rooted in God's favor toward us in his Son, the Lord Christ. Anchored in Grace is a celebration of these exceeding riches of God's grace toward sinners in Christ Jesus. These are realities with which Christians need to be thoroughly acquainted. They are paths to walk so that we do not miss our way to heaven, nor fail to honor the Lord God along the way. They are central truths, humbling truths, saving truths, and comforting truths. Not least, they are God-glorifying truths, for the great end of our salvation is the praise of the glory of God's grace. When God saves sinners, it reveals his wisdom and power, his love and compassion, his justice and truth, as nothing else. In Christ crucified, we are given insights into the gracious heart of God Almighty that can be found nowhere else. There his majesty, might, and mercy are on display, and there we find life everlasting. When our faith is anchored in this grace, holiness and happiness take root in our hearts. Here sinners are liberated from condemnation, dread, and wrath. Here Christians are relieved of fear, confusion, and pride. Here we may find peace, certainty, purpose, joy, and hope. With this in mind, Anchored in Grace provides a brief survey of the grace of God in Christ revealed in the Scriptures, tracing the arc of his saving dealings with lost men and women. It is by no means exhaustive, but rather sets out some of the fixed points in which humble faith can rest so as to exalt and enjoy God in all his saving kindnesses in his Son.
