Book Synopsis Giger's Tarot. Ediz. Inglese by : Akron

Download or read book Giger's Tarot. Ediz. Inglese written by Akron. This book was released on 2000. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collectable group of 22 beautifully designed Tarot cards is available in a handsome boxed set in either German or English language. Each card is a careful reproduction of one of Giger's paintings, and is interpreted by philosopher-magician Akron in a booklet of instructions, included with the set. To Akron Tarot is like an inexhaustible mine of symbols, suited to manifest Giger's aesthetics of apocalypse in literary style. Akron resorts to the tradition of the Tarot in order to convey the messages of Baphomet - a medieval secret symbol -- which is of special significance in Giger's work. H.R. Giger is a painter, Oscar-award winner and cult figure of an international artistic community, for which his aesthetics of the apocalypse represent inspiration and spiritual healing. His pictures are gripping, indeed sometimes shocking visions - they shake us from our unconsciousness as they relentlessly point to the hidden inner world of all things. The art of Giger is a journey to the most ancient destination of mankind: to birth and death, love and war, hope and the destruction of life.

Book Synopsis On the Composition of Images, Signs & Ideas by : Giordano Bruno

Download or read book On the Composition of Images, Signs & Ideas written by Giordano Bruno. This book was released on 2024-02-29. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Giordano Bruno (/dʒɔːrˈdɑːnoʊ ˈbruːnoʊ/; Italian: [dʒorˈdaːno ˈbruːno]; Latin: Iordanus Brunus Nolanus; born Filippo Bruno, January or February 1548 - 17 February 1600) was an Italian philosopher, poet, cosmological theorist and esotericist. He is known for his cosmological theories, which conceptually extended to include the then-novel Copernican model. He proposed that the stars were distant suns surrounded by their own planets (exoplanets), and he raised the possibility that these planets might foster life of their own, a cosmological position known as cosmic pluralism. He also insisted that the universe is infinite and could have no center.

Book Synopsis Semiotics Education Experience by : Inna Semetsky

Download or read book Semiotics Education Experience written by Inna Semetsky. This book was released on 2010. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Semiotics Education Experience" is a collection of fifteen essays edited by Inna Semetsky that explores semiotic approaches to education: semiotics of teaching, learning, and curriculum; educational theory and philosophies of Dewey, Peirce, and Deleuze; education as political semiosis; logic and mathematics; visual signs; semiotics and complexity; semiotics and ethics of the self. This is a landmark collection of cross-disciplinary chapters by international scholars that mark out the appeal and significance of a semiotic approach to education. As Marcel Danesi reminds us in the Foreword, Vygotsky construed learning theory as the science of signs. Semetsky's collection should be widely read by students and scholars in education, philosophy, futures studies, cultural studies, and related disciplines. It deserves the widest dissemination. Michael A Peters, Professor, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Editor, Educational Philosophy & Theory and Policy Futures in Education "With her latest collection, Inna Semetsky has once again deftly organized a series of nuanced reflections on semiotics and pedagogical issues that touch upon vital philosophical, political, communicational, visual and interdisciplinary matters of enduring relevance." - Gary Genosko, Editor, The Semiotic Review of Books and Canada Research Chair, Lakehead University.
