Book Synopsis Architectural Geometry by : Helmut Pottmann

Download or read book Architectural Geometry written by Helmut Pottmann. This book was released on 2007. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Architectural Geometry is the first book to introduce a revolutionary new approach to design. Geometry lies at the core of the architectural design process. It is omnipresent, from the initial form-finding stages to the actual construction. Modern constructive geometry provides a variety of tools for the efficient design, analysis, and manufacture of complex shapes. This results in new challenges for architecture. However, the architectural application also poses new problems to geometry. Architectural geometry is therefore an entire research area, currently emerging at the border between applied geometry and architecture. Written for students, architects, construction engineers, and industrial designers – Architectural Geometry is a source of inspiration for scientists interested in applications of geometry processing in architecture and art. With over 700 pages, including 2,100 full-color images of built architecture, architectural projects, and artwork, Architectural Geometry takes readers from basic to advanced geometry then leads them to the cutting-edge of research in the architectural geometry field.

Book Synopsis Geometry in Architecture by : Clovis Heimsath

Download or read book Geometry in Architecture written by Clovis Heimsath. This book was released on 2002-07-15. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Geometry in Architecture, a revised edition of Pioneer Texas Buildings, juxtaposes the historic structures with works by twenty contemporary architects who are inspired by the pioneer tradition to show how seamlessly the basic geometries translate from one era to another. As in the earlier book, sketches and brief commentary by Clovis Heimsath explain how squares, triangles, and circles take shape in the cylindrical forms that comprise houses and other buildings. Then black and white photographs, the heart of the book, illustrate these geometric forms in historic and modern buildings."--BOOK JACKET.

Book Synopsis Fractal Geometry in Architecture and Design by : Carl Bovill

Download or read book Fractal Geometry in Architecture and Design written by Carl Bovill. This book was released on 2013-03-11. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: na broad sense Design Science is the grammar of a language of images Irather than of words. Modern communication techniques enable us to transmit and reconstitute images without needing to know a specific verbal sequence language such as the Morse code or Hungarian. International traffic signs use international image symbols which are not specific to any particular verbal language. An image language differs from a verbal one in that the latter uses a linear string of symbols, whereas the former is multi dimensional. Architectural renderings commonly show projections onto three mutual ly perpendicular planes, or consist of cross sections at different altitudes capa ble of being stacked and representing different floor plans. Such renderings make it difficult to imagine buildings comprising ramps and other features which disguise the separation between floors, and consequently limit the cre ative process of the architect. Analogously, we tend to analyze natural struc tures as if nature had used similar stacked renderings, rather than, for instance, a system of packed spheres, with the result that we fail to perceive the system of organization determining the form of such structures. Perception is a complex process. Our senses record; they are analogous to audio or video devices. We cannot, however, claim that such devices perceive.

Book Synopsis Architecture and Geometry in the Age of the Baroque by : George L. Hersey

Download or read book Architecture and Geometry in the Age of the Baroque written by George L. Hersey. This book was released on 2001-03. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The age of the baroque -- a time of great strides in science and mathematics -- also saw the construction of some of the world's most magnificent buildings. In this book, George L. Hersey explores the interrelations of the two developments, explaining how the advancements of geometry and the abstractions of mathematicians were made concrete in the architecture of the day.
