Book Synopsis Operation of Distributed Energy Resources in Smart Distribution Networks by : Kazem Zare

Download or read book Operation of Distributed Energy Resources in Smart Distribution Networks written by Kazem Zare. This book was released on 2018-06-05. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Operation of Distributed Energy Resources in Smart Distribution Networks defines the barriers and challenges of smart distribution networks, ultimately proposing optimal solutions for addressing them. The book considers their use as an important part of future electrical power systems and their ability to improve the local flexibility and reliability of electrical systems. It carefully defines the concept as a radial network with a cluster of distributed energy generations, various types of loads, and energy storage systems. In addition, the book details how the huge penetration of distributed energy resources and the intermittent nature of renewable generations may cause system problems. Readers will find this to be an important resource that analyzes and introduces the features and problems of smart distribution networks from different aspects. Integrates different types of elements, including electrical vehicles, demand response programs, and various renewable energy sources in distribution networks Proposes optimal operational models for the short-term performance and scheduling of a distribution network Discusses the uncertainties of renewable resources and intermittent load in the decision-making process for distribution networks

Book Synopsis Electric Energy Storage Systems by : Przemyslaw Komarnicki

Download or read book Electric Energy Storage Systems written by Przemyslaw Komarnicki. This book was released on 2017-06-21. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book describes methods of modeling, planning and implementing electric energy storage systems. Energy storage becomes an important issue when more and more electric power is generated by wind mills and photovoltaics systems, because green energy is more volatile. So energy storage is necessary to guarantee safe and secure electric energy supply.Market and power system oriented operations of electric energy storage require different planning methods and different algorithms for searching the optimal solution. These methods are described in detail for energy storage implementations in generation, transmission and distribution levels. Economic aspects are considered. For many years, the authors have been developing smart grid solutions as well as a methology of modeling and planning electric energy storage usage. The aim has been to increase the flexibility of the power system heading for an energy system which is completely generated by green energy.

Book Synopsis Flexitranstore by : Bálint Németh

Download or read book Flexitranstore written by Bálint Németh. This book was released on 2020. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book comprises 10 high-level papers on research and innovation within the Flexitranstore Project that were presented at the FLEXITRANSTORE special session organized as part of the 21st International Symposium on High Voltage Engineering. FLEXITRANSTORE (An Integrated Platform for Increased FLEXIbility in smart TRANSmission grids with STORage Entities and large penetration of Renewable Energy Sources) aims to contribute to the development of a pan-European transmission network with high flexibility and high interconnection levels. This will facilitate the transformation of the current energy production mix by hosting an increasing share of renewable energy sources. Novel smart grid technologies, control and storage methods, and new market approaches will be developed, installed, demonstrated, and tested introducing flexibility to the European power system. FLEXITRANSTORE is developing a next-generation Flexible Energy Grid (FEG) that will be integrated into the European Internal Energy Market (IEM) through the valorization of flexibility services. This FEG addresses the capabilities of a power system to maintain continuous service in the face of rapid and large swings in supply or demand. As such, a wholesale market infrastructure and new business models within this integrated FEG must be upgraded for network players, and offer incentives for new ones to join, while at the same time demonstrating new business perspectives for cross-border resource management and energy trading.

Book Synopsis Estimation of Flexibility Potentials in Active Distribution Networks by : Daniel Alfonso Contreras Schneider

Download or read book Estimation of Flexibility Potentials in Active Distribution Networks written by Daniel Alfonso Contreras Schneider. This book was released on 2021-10-15. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The feasible operation region (FOR) allows capturing the aggregated flexibility potential of DER within radial distribution networks, while respecting the technical restrictions of both plants and grid. This thesis proposes a novel approach to compute the FOR, the Linear Flexibility Aggregation (LFA) method, based on the solution of a sequence of linear OPF. With the objective of reducing the computation time, without compromising the accuracy of the assessed FOR. It is shown that the proposed method provides a considerable reduction in processing time compared to similar methods, e.g. Monte-Carlo simulations or non-linear OPF-based methods.
