Catherine Summer Carlson has hit rock bottom. Her band, Dangerheart, is falling apart, and finding the last of the lost songs now seems impossible. Can the band pull together to outwit Candy Shell Records, stay one step ahead of the police, and find a way to get to London to unlock the Eli White mystery before it’s too late? Summer knows that escaping to London would be the riskiest thing she’s ever done, but she also knows that this might be her and Dangerheart’s last chance of becoming the band they’ve always dreamed of being—and her last shot at figuring out what her heart really wants.

Book Synopsis Finding Abbey by : Sean Prentiss

Download or read book Finding Abbey written by Sean Prentiss. This book was released on 2015-05-01. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the great environmental writer Edward Abbey died in 1989, four of his friends buried him secretly in a hidden desert spot that no one would ever find. The final resting place of the Thoreau of the American West remains unknown and has become part of American folklore. In this book a young writer who went looking for Abbey’s grave combines an account of his quest with a creative biography of Abbey. Sean Prentiss takes readers across the country as he gathers clues from his research, travel, and interviews with some of Abbey’s closest friends—including Jack Loeffler, Ken “Seldom Seen” Sleight, David Petersen, and Doug Peacock. Along the way, Prentiss examines his own sense of rootlessness as he attempts to unravel Abbey’s complicated legacy, raising larger questions about the meaning of place and home.

Book Synopsis Here, There and Everywhere by : Geoff Emerick

Download or read book Here, There and Everywhere written by Geoff Emerick. This book was released on 2006-03-16. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An all-access, firsthand account of the life and music of one of history's most beloved bands--from an original mastering engineer at Abbey Road Geoff Emerick became an assistant engineer at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in 1962 at age fifteen, and was present as a new band called the Beatles recorded their first songs. He later worked with the Beatles as they recorded their singles “She Loves You” and “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” the songs that would propel them to international superstardom. In 1964 he would witness the transformation of this young and playful group from Liverpool into professional, polished musicians as they put to tape classic songs such as “Eight Days A Week” and “I Feel Fine.” Then, in 1966, at age nineteen, Geoff Emerick became the Beatles’ chief engineer, the man responsible for their distinctive sound as they recorded the classic album Revolver, in which they pioneered innovative recording techniques that changed the course of rock history. Emerick would also engineer the monumental Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road albums, considered by many the greatest rock recordings of all time. In Here, There and Everywhere he reveals the creative process of the band in the studio, and describes how he achieved the sounds on their most famous songs. Emerick also brings to light the personal dynamics of the band, from the relentless (and increasingly mean-spirited) competition between Lennon and McCartney to the infighting and frustration that eventually brought a bitter end to the greatest rock band the world has ever known.
