Download or read book Modern Control Systems written by Michael Masten. This book was released on 1995-12-01. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This course provides an overview of the major techniques of "modern" control theory. Although control systems have existed for many years, development of the formal scientific theory did not begin until the 1940s. During the late 1960s and since, new approaches to control problems have developed. Unfortunately modern techniques are so complex that each has a specialized literature with only incidental reference to others. The goal of this course is to provide a broad picture of all of the major modern control techniques which are likely to be used in practical control systems. Students who complete this course will understand similarities and differences between the methods and will be able to identify the most appropriate approach for any given application. Each lesson is self-contained and includes the following elements: brief introduction and expected outcomes, lesson material with closing summary, glossary and examples, examination questions with answers and solutions, references. Course includes: study guide, workbook and final exam. You will earn 8 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) upon successful completion.
