Book Synopsis Elements of Transitional Boundary-Layer Flowlements by : Robert Edward Mayle

Download or read book Elements of Transitional Boundary-Layer Flowlements written by Robert Edward Mayle. This book was released on 2018. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Second Enhanced Edition Suitable for advanced-level courses or an independent study in fluid mechanics, this text by an expert in the field provides the basic aspects of laminar-to-turbulent flow transition in boundary layers. Logically organized into three major parts, the book covers pre- and post-transitional flow, transitional flow, and several advanced topics in periodically disturbed transitional flow. Some of the subjects covered within the book include high-frequency unsteady laminar flow, turbulent flow, natural transition, bypass transition, turbulent spot theory, turbulent spot kinematics and production, correlations for the onset and rate of transition, global and conditional averaging, transitional flow models, wakeinduced transition, multimode transition, and separated-flow transition. Containing some 202 figures (all drawn by the author), 28 tables, 12 appendices, a supplement on tensors, and an extensive bibliography, the 415 page book provides a wealth of data and information about the subject.

Book Synopsis Plant Flow Measurement and Control Handbook by : Swapan Basu

Download or read book Plant Flow Measurement and Control Handbook written by Swapan Basu. This book was released on 2018-08-22. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plant Flow Measurement and Control Handbook is a comprehensive reference source for practicing engineers in the field of instrumentation and controls. It covers many practical topics, such as installation, maintenance and potential issues, giving an overview of available techniques, along with recommendations for application. In addition, it covers available flow sensors, such as automation and control. The author brings his 35 years of experience in working in instrumentation and control within the industry to this title with a focus on fluid flow measurement, its importance in plant design and the appropriate control of processes. The book provides a good balance between practical issues and theory and is fully supported with industry case studies and a high level of illustrations to assist learning. It is unique in its coverage of multiphase flow, solid flow, process connection to the plant, flow computation and control. Readers will not only further understand design, but they will also further comprehend integration tactics that can be applied to the plant through a step-by-step design process that goes from installation to operation. - Provides specification sheets, engineering drawings, calibration procedures and installation practices for each type of measurement - Presents the correct flow meter that is suitable for a particular application - Includes a selection table and step-by-step guide to help users make the best decision - Cover examples and applications from engineering practice that will aid in understanding and application

Download or read book ARIS - Business Process Frameworks written by August-Wilhelm Scheer. This book was released on 2012-12-06. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ARIS (Architecture of Integrated Information Systems) is a unique and internationally renowned method for optimizing business processes and implementing application systems. This book enhances the proven ARIS concept by describing product flows and explaining how to classify modern software concepts. The importance of the link between business process organization and strategic management is stressed. Bridging the gap between the different approaches in business theory and information technology, the ARIS concept provides a full-circle approach-from the organizational design of business processes to IT implementation. With an emphasis on SAP R/3, real-world examples of standard software solutions illustrate these business process frameworks.

Book Synopsis Transactions on Petri Nets and Other Models of Concurrency II by : Wil van der Aalst

Download or read book Transactions on Petri Nets and Other Models of Concurrency II written by Wil van der Aalst. This book was released on 2009-03-27. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transactions on Petri Nets and Other Models of Concurrency (ToPNoC) II These Transactions publish archival papers in the broad area of Petri nets and other models of concurrency, ranging from theoretical work to tool support and industrial applications. ToPNoC issues are published as LNCS volumes, and hence are widely distributed and indexed. This Journal has its own Editorial Board which selects papers based on a rigorous two-stage refereeing process. ToPNoC contains: - Revised versions of a selection of the best papers from workshops and tutorials at the annual Petri net conferences - Special sections/issues within particular subareas (similar to those published in the Advances in Petri Nets series) - Other papers invited for publication in ToPNoC - Papers submitted directly to ToPNoC by their authors The second volume of ToPNoC focuses on Concurrency in Process-Aware Information Systems. Although the topic of business process management using information technology has been addressed by consultants and software developers in depth, more fundamental approaches towards such Process-Aware Information Systems (PAISs) have been rather uncommon. It wasn't until the 1990s that researchers started to work on the foundations of PAISs. Clearly, concurrency theory is an essential ingredient in these foundations as business processes are highly concurrent involving all types of routing logic and resource allocation mechanisms. The 16 papers in this special issue of ToPNoC cover topics ranging from the formal (mostly Petri-net based) foundations of PAISs to more applied topics such as flexibility and process mining. Thus, this volume gives a good overview of the state of the art in PAIS research.
