Book excerpt: An aircraft autopilot is a combination of mechanical, electrical & software systems that guide a vehicle without human intervention. Piloting aircraft is a very complex & tedious job resulting in wear & tear of pilots in long distance flights. Autopilot feature in aircraft's helps to reduce the work load on pilots making them more productive & active. This project aims at design & implementation of Auto Pilot Control System. Thrust required to take off flight along with added payload can be achieved by giving PWM pulse to the main motor. Main motor draws high amount of current which can be supplied using H-brigde circuit. Sensors such as Ultrasonic sonar & Accelerometer are placed onboard to limit the flight height &caliberate the tilt angle respectively. Microcontroller & Power supply to onboard electronic components are placed off the board to reduce the payload of the flight. Flight is being very sensitive to added additional payload, making it difficult to stabilize. Stability greatly matters to safe take off & landing of the flight & to avoid the vibration of the flight body. Stability of the flight can be greatly enhanced by introducing the Gyroscope to re-orient the flight.

Book Synopsis Flight Stability and Automatic Control by : Robert C. Nelson

Download or read book Flight Stability and Automatic Control written by Robert C. Nelson. This book was released on 1998. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second edition of Flight Stability and Automatic Control presents an organized introduction to the useful and relevant topics necessary for a flight stability and controls course. Not only is this text presented at the appropriate mathematical level, it also features standard terminology and nomenclature, along with expanded coverage of classical control theory, autopilot designs, and modern control theory. Through the use of extensive examples, problems, and historical notes, author Robert Nelson develops a concise and vital text for aircraft flight stability and control or flight dynamics courses.

Book Synopsis Multivariable Autopilot Design and Implementation for Tactical Missiles by :

Download or read book Multivariable Autopilot Design and Implementation for Tactical Missiles written by . This book was released on 1998. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A tactical skid to turn missile autopilot is designed and implemented using a two step design process that results in an optimal output feedback with a fixed, low order dynamic compensator for reduced design and implementation cost. The gain design consists of minimizing a performance index in which measurements and controls are appropriately weighted to achieve the desired speed of response, while minimizing overshoot, fin rates, body rates, and maximizing stability margins. The cross channel multi variable autopilot provides faster response times with better stability than does the single channel classical autopilot. The faster response time results in many performance benefits, including smaller miss distance that results in increased lethality, and reduced homing time requirements. This autopilot was implemented and tested in missile borne microprocessors.
