Book excerpt: The UK may be ranked as one of the best countries in the world to start a business, but evidence from growing skills gaps, and the decline in graduates’ entrepreneurial aspirations suggest that higher education may not be contributing as it should to the enterprise environment. Enterprising Education in UK Higher Education brings together the challenges of embedding enterprise education in universities and colleges, identifies current debates around their roles and explores research, theory and practice to deliver roadmaps for innovative enterprise education. This book provides solid and clear guidance to practitioners and academics who are starting their journey into enterprising education, as well as those who are more experienced, but understand that the traditional approaches limit the options of future graduates. It collates the theory and practice of enterprise education in the UK higher education sector and business engagement with wider stakeholders. Drawing on theory and best practice, and illustrated with a wide range of the examples and cases, it will provide invaluable guidance to researchers, educators, practitioners and policy makers.

Book Synopsis Technological Entrepreneurship by : Ian Chaston

Download or read book Technological Entrepreneurship written by Ian Chaston. This book was released on 2017-01-28. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This comprehensive book responds to the growing demand to study entrepreneurship as a key driver of innovation and competitive advantage. Challenging the existing idea that technological entrepreneurship exists predominantly in SMEs and as a result of market demands, the author argues that a commitment to entrepreneurship remains the most effective strategy for sustaining wealth generation for both organisations and entire nations. The aim of Technological Entrepreneurship is to provide the reader with additional knowledge and understanding of the concepts associated with the exploitation of technological entrepreneurship, and to demonstrate how associated management principles are somewhat different to those utilised in market-driven entrepreneurship. Validation of presented theoretical concepts is achieved through coverage of processes and practices utilised by real world organisations seeking to achieve maximum wealth generation, with specific emphasis on how technological entrepreneurship is the source of disruptive innovation within service sector organisations and how the philosophy is causing fundamental change in the provision of healthcare.

Book Synopsis The Technological Entrepreneur’s Playbook by : Ian Chaston

Download or read book The Technological Entrepreneur’s Playbook written by Ian Chaston. This book was released on 2017-05-08. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As exemplified by Apple and Google, maximizing the wealth of organizations involves what Joseph Schumpeter described as “creative destruction.” This occurs when scientific or technological breakthroughs lead to the launch of a radically new product or service at a time when there often is little or no evidence of the existence of an identified market opportunity. The world is currently involved in the third Industrial Revolution and academic research and real-world case studies have validated the fact that the management of technology-driven entrepreneurship is a somewhat different process to that of market-driven entrepreneurship. The existence of these differences generates the perspective that benefit exists in identifying managerial guidelines that can be of assistance in ensuring the success of technological entrepreneurship projects in both start-ups and existing businesses. Hence the aim of this text is to draw upon academic theory and real-world case materials as the basis for defining 86 key managerial guidelines for optimizing the outcome from involvement in technological entrepreneurship.
