Book Synopsis Coupled Systems by : Juergen Geiser

Download or read book Coupled Systems written by Juergen Geiser. This book was released on 2014-02-14. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theory, Models, and Applications in Engineering explains how to solve complicated coupled models in engineering using analytical and numerical methods. It presents splitting multiscale methods to solve multiscale and multi-physics problems and describes analytical and numerical methods in time and space for evolution equations arising in engineering problems. The book discusses the effectiveness, simplicity, stability, and consistency of the methods in solving problems that occur in real-life engineering tasks. It shows how MATLAB (R) and Simulink (R) are used to implement the methods. The author also covers the coupling of separate, multiple, and logical scales in applications, including microscale, macroscale, multiscale, and multi-physics problems. Covering mathematical, algorithmic, and practical aspects, this book brings together innovative ideas in coupled systems and extends standard engineering tools to coupled models in materials and flow problems with respect to their scale dependencies and their influence on each time and spatial scale

Book Synopsis EPR of Exchange Coupled Systems by : Alessandro Bencini

Download or read book EPR of Exchange Coupled Systems written by Alessandro Bencini. This book was released on 2012-07-19. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From chemistry to solid state physics to biology, the applications of Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) are relevant to many areas. This unified treatment is based on the spin Hamiltonian approach and makes extensive use of irreducible tensor techniques to analyze systems in which two or more spins are magnetically coupled. This edition contains a new Introduction by coauthor Dante Gatteschi, a pioneer and scholar of molecular magnetism. The first two chapters review the foundations of exchange interactions, followed by examinations of the spectra of pairs and clusters, relaxation in oligonuclear species, approaches to infinite lattices, and how EPR can provide firsthand information on spin dynamics. Subsequent chapters explore experimental data, magnetically coupled systems, low-dimensional materials, and the use of EPR to characterize excitons and exciton motion. More than 200 figures and tables appear throughout the book, which concludes with a pair of helpful appendices.

Book Synopsis Dynamics of Coupled Systems in High-Speed Railways by : Weihua Zhang

Download or read book Dynamics of Coupled Systems in High-Speed Railways written by Weihua Zhang. This book was released on 2019-11-25. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dynamics of Coupled Systems in High-Speed Railways: Theory and Practice presents the relationship between various coupled systems that can affect train operation, including interaction between track and train, the pantograph-catenary system and train, power supply system and train, and airflow and train, with respect to the structure and characteristics of high-speed railway. The overall simulation optimization and control are achieved based on an analysis of the dynamics generated by coupled systems in high-speed trains, with a theoretical framework for the dynamics presented in the book. Presents the first book available on the dynamics of coupled systems in high-speed trains Provides a systematic view of high-speed vehicle dynamics, covering the issues that are especially concerned for high speed operations, such as high-speed pantograph and catenary, aerodynamic characteristics and running stability of high-speed trains Covers the optimization of dynamic performance, the design of parameters, the simulation of high-speed train service processes, and the identification of high-speed train state and condition assessment

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the IUTAM Symposium on Model Order Reduction of Coupled System, held in Stuttgart, Germany, May 22–25, 2018. For the understanding and development of complex technical systems, such as the human body or mechatronic systems, an integrated, multiphysics and multidisciplinary view is essential. Many problems can be solved within one physical domain. For the simulation and optimization of the combined system, the different domains are connected with each other. Very often, the combination is only possible by using reduced order models such that the large-scale dynamical system is approximated with a system of much smaller dimension where the most dominant features of the large-scale system are retained as much as possible. The field of model order reduction (MOR) is interdisciplinary. Researchers from Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science identify, explore and compare the potentials, challenges and limitations of recent and new advances.

Download or read book Pattern Formation in Continuous and Coupled Systems written by Martin Golubitsky. This book was released on 2012-12-06. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This IMA Volume in Mathematics and its Applications PATTERN FORMATION IN CONTINUOUS AND COUPLED SYSTEMS is based on the proceedings of a workshop with the same title, but goes be yond the proceedings by presenting a series of mini-review articles that sur vey, and provide an introduction to, interesting problems in the field. The workshop was an integral part of the 1997-98 IMA program on "EMERG ING APPLICATIONS OF DYNAMICAL SYSTEMS." I would like to thank Martin Golubitsky, University of Houston (Math ematics) Dan Luss, University of Houston (Chemical Engineering), and Steven H. Strogatz, Cornell University (Theoretical and Applied Mechan ics) for their excellent work as organizers of the meeting and for editing the proceedings. I also take this opportunity to thank the National Science Foundation (NSF), and the Army Research Office (ARO), whose financial support made the workshop possible. Willard Miller, Jr., Professor and Director v PREFACE Pattern formation has been studied intensively for most of this cen tury by both experimentalists and theoreticians, and there have been many workshops and conferences devoted to the subject. In the IMA workshop on Pattern Formation in Continuous and Coupled Systems held May 11-15, 1998 we attempted to focus on new directions in the patterns literature.
