Book Synopsis Cooperative Systems Design by : Françoise Darses

Download or read book Cooperative Systems Design written by Françoise Darses. This book was released on 2004. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A recent conference brought together researchers who contribute to the design of cooperative systems and their integration into organizational settings. The aim of the conference was to advance the understanding and modeling of collaborative work situations which are mediated by technological artefacts, and to highlight the development of design methodologies for cooperative work analysis and cooperative systems design. Papers from the conference reflect the multidisciplinary nature of this area, representing fields such as computer and information sciences, knowledge engineering, distributed artificial intelligence, organizational and management sciences, and ergonomics. There is no subject index. Annotation : 2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com).

Download or read book COOP 2016: Proceedings of the 12th International Conference on the Design of Cooperative Systems, 23-27 May 2016, Trento, Italy written by Antonella De Angeli. This book was released on 2016-09-07. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents the proceedings of the 12th International Conference on the Design of Cooperative Systems (COOP 2016). The conference is a venue for multidisciplinary research contributing to the design, assessment and analysis of cooperative systems and their integration in organizations, public venues, and everyday life. COOP emerged from the European tradition of Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) and Cognitive Ergonomics. A collection of 22 papers and 4 workshop overviews are presented, reflecting the variety of research activities in the field of the design of cooperative systems with a special emphasis on “Making Together” This collection offers a broad vision of collective working practices and cooperative design, embracing the idea that design requires a deep understanding of collective activities, involving both artefacts and social practices within a context. The result is a rich and articulated debate that widens the design space towards the exploration of a variety of forms of participation and engagement in collaborative system design. Experienced researchers, academics, designers and practitioners who are interested in collaborative design theory and methods would be interested in the state of the art research and case studies this collection provides.

Book Synopsis From Research to Practice in the Design of Cooperative Systems: Results and Open Challenges by : Julie Dugdale

Download or read book From Research to Practice in the Design of Cooperative Systems: Results and Open Challenges written by Julie Dugdale. This book was released on 2012-06-19. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: COOP 2012 is the tenth COOP conference, marking twenty years from the first conference in 1992. In this special anniversary edition we asked researchers and practitioners to reflect on what have been the successes and the failures in designing cooperative systems, and what challenges still need to be addressed. We have come a long way in understanding the intricacies of cooperation and in designing systems that support work practices and collective activities. These advances would not have been possible without the concerted effort of contributions from a plethora of domains including CSCW, HCI, Information Systems, Knowledge Engineering, Multi-agent systems, organizational and management sciences, sociology, psychology, anthropology, ergonomics, linguistics, etc. The COOP community is going from strength to strength in developing new technologies, advancing and proposing new methodological approaches, and forging theories.

Book Synopsis Designing Cooperative Systems by : Rose Dieng

Download or read book Designing Cooperative Systems written by Rose Dieng. This book was released on 2000. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main assumption behind the COOP conferences is that co-operative systems design requires a deep understanding of the co-operative work of dyads, groups and organizations, involving both artefacts and social conventions. The key topic of COOP'2000 was The Use of Theories and Models in Designing Cooperative Systems. Two opposite methodological approaches to co-operative system design can be clearly identified - a pragmatic approach or an approach based on theories and models. Objectives of the COOP'2000 Conference included: clarifying the reasons why one needs or does not need to use a theory or a model for design, comparing the pragmatic and the theory/model-based approaches, and identifying possible joint points between them, discussing the relevance of the theories/models with respect to the design of co-operative systems, to better delimit the respective application fields of the various theories/models, and to identify their possible joint points.
