Book Synopsis Anisotropic Behaviour of Damaged Materials by : Jacek J. Skrzypek

Download or read book Anisotropic Behaviour of Damaged Materials written by Jacek J. Skrzypek. This book was released on 2012-11-27. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The scope of this book is based on the keynote lectures delivered during the Inter national Symposium on Anisotropic Behaviour of Damaged Materials ABDM, held in Krakow-Przegorzaiy, Poland, September 9-11, 2002. The Symposium was organized by the Solid Mechanics Division of the Institute of Mechanics and Machine Design - Cracow University of Technology, under aus pices of the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Cracow University of Technology, Prof. S. Michalowski. The Co-organizers of the ABDM Symposium were: • Martin-Luther-Universitat Halle-Wittenberg, • Centre of Excellence for Advanced Materials and Structures AMAS at the In stitute of Fundamental Technological Research of the Polish Academy of Sci ences, Warsaw, • Committee of Mechanics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw. Ten chapters of this book in their present form essentially exceed lectures de livered at the Symposium. They should rather be read as not only author's recent achievements in the field, but also the state of art and synthesis done by the lead ers in the mechanics community. The mixed formula of the Symposium, namely: the invited lectures and presentations of the original papers by the participants was used. 23 original papers, published in the Symposium Proceedings on CD, exhaust the full scope of the ABDM Symposium. The present book provides a survey of various damage models focusing on the damage response in anisotropic materials as well as damage-induced anisotropy.

Book Synopsis Boundary Element Analysis in Computational Fracture Mechanics by : T.A. Cruse

Download or read book Boundary Element Analysis in Computational Fracture Mechanics written by T.A. Cruse. This book was released on 2012-12-06. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Boundary Integral Equation (BIE) method has occupied me to various degrees for the past twenty-two years. The attraction of BIE analysis has been its unique combination of mathematics and practical application. The EIE method is unforgiving in its requirement for mathe matical care and its requirement for diligence in creating effective numerical algorithms. The EIE method has the ability to provide critical inSight into the mathematics that underlie one of the most powerful and useful modeling approximations ever devised--elasticity. The method has even revealed important new insights into the nature of crack tip plastic strain distributions. I believe that EIE modeling of physical problems is one of the remaining opportunities for challenging and fruitful research by those willing to apply sound mathematical discipline coupled with phys ical insight and a desire to relate the two in new ways. The monograph that follows is the summation of many of the successes of that twenty-two years, supported by the ideas and synergisms that come from working with individuals who share a common interest in engineering mathematics and their application. The focus of the monograph is on the application of EIE modeling to one of the most important of the solid mechanics disciplines--fracture mechanics. The monograph is not a trea tise on fracture mechanics, as there are many others who are far more qualified than I to expound on that topic.
