Book Synopsis CO2 Free Ammonia as an Energy Carrier by : Ken-ichi Aika

Download or read book CO2 Free Ammonia as an Energy Carrier written by Ken-ichi Aika. This book was released on 2022-11-01. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes important findings in intensive studies conducted in Japan on ammonia as an energy carrier. It illustrates an advanced solar-heat capture system and storage materials at 600°C and hydrogen production with SOECs and a new IS method through the use of heat. New industrial ammonia catalysts and a demonstration process that started running in Fukushima are also introduced. Advanced ammonia decomposition catalysts and the process that were developed for use by the hydrogen station are presented. An advanced direct ammonia fuel cell was developed and the base data are shown. The book explains that ammonia is used as a fuel for industrial applications because its burning can be controlled without emitting extra NOx in the gas turbine and the real coal co-fired power plant. These breakthroughs have made a strong impact in the world as a practical technology for CO2 reduction. Also provided here are the scientific and industrial backgrounds as well as the environmental assessment and economic evaluation for the future. This book will be helpful for all who are interested in energy technology—researchers, students, and strategy planners at companies and in the government.

Book Synopsis Development of a Lithium-mediated Nitrogen Reduction Process by : Nikifar Lazouski

Download or read book Development of a Lithium-mediated Nitrogen Reduction Process written by Nikifar Lazouski. This book was released on 2021. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ammonia is an important industrial chemical that is used predominantly for producing nitrogen-containing fertilizers as well as nitric acid, polymers, and pharmaceuticals. It is also being considered as an energy-dense, carbon-free energy carrier. Today, ammonia (NH3) is produced via the Haber-Bosch process, in which air, water, and fossil fuels are used to make nitrogen and hydrogen, which are then reacted at elevated temperatures and pressures to produce NH3. The use of fossil fuels as a hydrogen and energy source leads to significant CO2 emissions. In addition, the process is very centralized and capitally intensive, which makes expanding ammonia production capacity, particularly in a distributed manner, difficult. Electrochemical methods for producing ammonia from air, water, and renewable electricity have been proposed as possible solutions to these issues.

Book Synopsis The 100% Solution by : Solomon Goldstein-Rose

Download or read book The 100% Solution written by Solomon Goldstein-Rose. This book was released on 2020-03-31. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "At last--a global plan that actually adds up."--James Hansen, former director, NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies The world must reach negative greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 to avoid the most catastrophic effects of climate change. Yet no single plan has addressed the full scope of the problem--until now. In The 100% Solution, Solomon Goldstein-Rose--a leading millennial climate activist and a former Massachusetts state representative--makes clear what needs to happen to hit the 2050 target: the manufacturing booms we must spur, the moonshot projects we must fund, the amount of CO2 we'll have to sequester from the atmosphere, and much more. Most importantly, he shows us the more prosperous and equitable world we can build by uniting the efforts of activists, industries, governments, scientists, and voters to get the job done. This is the guide we've been waiting for. As calls for a WWII-scale mobilization intensify--especially among youth activists--this fully illustrated, action-oriented book arms us with specific demands, sets the stakes for what our leaders must achieve, and proves that with this level of comprehensive thinking we can still take back our future.
