I found that during the existence of the furunculosis ho had an attack of " pneumonia without fever," with shivering, pain in the side, abundant expectoration of blood; following this there had developed a pleuritic exudation which was also without fever, but accompanied with violent dyspnoea. Remembering the boils and oedema, the whole connection of the case becamo clear; namely, thrombosis of the veins of the face, embolism, hecmorrhagic infarction, pleurisy.
