Book Synopsis Climate Change Poetry by : Stefan Nicholson

Download or read book Climate Change Poetry written by Stefan Nicholson. This book was released on 2020-02-19. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents my summary on climate change and some poems written with that in mind. All I ask is for some time – about 15 minutes – unless you decide that your interest lies elsewhere. Time is precious and so is all life on Earth. The climate is always changing. How do we know? What have we learnt? We all bear witness to “the four seasons” varying in severity, depending on where you live and how you, your city and farming community have treated the environment. Nature is neither forgiving or forgetful. Just ask the Mesopotamians, Aztecs, Incas, Babylonians and now modern industrial humans – all have followed the same path to reducing their environment to dust by overpopulation, deforestation, wars and greed. Human civilisations all follow a familiar destructive pattern. We always seem to be at war with someone else – as if we enjoy taking what is not ours. Hopefully this book will raise awareness and persuade the reader to act now for future generations.

Book Synopsis Green Rape by : Peter W. Vakunta

Download or read book Green Rape written by Peter W. Vakunta. This book was released on 2008. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Green Rape: Poetry for the Environment is an anthology of poems written in strong support of environmental literacy. Each poem is the poet's cry of protest against the rape of natural and built environments. The anthology examines a wide range of issues including the clash of global capitalism with environmental activism. It takes a close look at the major themes in international discourse on environmental degradation, climate change, renewable energy sources, global warming, Gene technology, biodiversity and more. The poet dispels a number of myths, notably the existence of an inexhaustible bank of natural resources at the disposal of Man. He attempts to provide a solution to the abusive and unbalanced utilization of scarce natural resources. In a unique way, the poems contribute to the fostering of environmental awareness that would contribute to the sustainable management of natural resources. The poet invites us to look beyond the doomsday rhetoric about the state of the environment and to commit more of our resources where they will do the most good to lifting the world's population out of poverty. The significance of this anthology to environmental education resides in its contribution to the debate on global sustainable development, especially efforts to protect the environment and eradicate poverty.

Book Synopsis CLIMATE CHANGE by : Mahyar Mazloumi

Download or read book CLIMATE CHANGE written by Mahyar Mazloumi. This book was released on 2018-11-23. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Climate Change is a poetry book by Mahyar Mazloumi. He is an Iranian-Canadian writer/poet. This collection is an English translation of Mahyar's selected poetry during his journey as a poet growing up in Iran and later immigrating to Canada to pursue his goals. In a poetic world, climate change is not only the alterations in weather patterns that are happening due to the Earth’s and human’s activities. Any change in the lifestyle and the place where we live is a kind of climate change that affects our behaviors and decisions. It’s all about changing our moods, thoughts, lives, cities, countries. Change is the only sustainable factor of the world. In the land of great poets such as Rumi, poetry is a big part of the Iranian people's lives. The modern Persian poetry, thanks to free-verse style and its founder Nima Yushij, is much more universal now. Contemporary Persian poetry similar to other languages is facing the problems and needs of modern humans. Therefore, everyone around the world could read the translations and feel these poems. If you like contemporary poetry, you will enjoy reading this book.
